Did they get a bigger slave pen?

Really? Y'all need to actually go to the museum. It's fantastic and doesn't contain one ounce of white guilt. Their focus is on all forms of slavery including contemporary slavery, human trafficking, sex slavery, and indentured servitude. They're a huge asset to the community.

I will absolutely be visiting the Auschwitz exhibit.

No. I don't plan on checking out the Auschwitz exhibit. Something about the holocaust is on the History Channel every single day. Yet, genocides are happening as I type in the Darfur Region of Western Sudan and no one in the media cares to discuss it. A similar genocide of Armenia by the Ottoman Empire predates the holocaust and we don't hear much about that. Sorry to sound like a heartless bastard, but I'd say the holocaust has had its moment in the spotlight and should share some of the attention with other genocides and atrocities that have occurred and are still happening to this day.

The majority of visitors to the FC are school children on class trip. And, 90% of what they see and retain is the only substantial exhibit, i.e. the Slave Pen. There is a point to this. It is not an accident.

If they had constructed a white sharecropper's cabin next to the Slave Pen one could not tell the difference. Yet 50,000 school children who will never study how poor rural people lived in 1850 come away with guilt, shame, or anger depending on their race. It is shameful.

There are sites online that regularly follow (look through foreign media for) such current events. Type in a few search words and you'll find them.

I went through last year for the first time. I really enjoyed the modern slavery exhibit. Depressing yet moving. Plus their work with Half The Sky was really good.

It's shame some people don't realize what a great asset that museum is.

Probably won't go and see the Auschwitz exhibit only because I visited Auschwitz and Birkenau (sp?) in person several years ago.

We went through it a couple of years ago and I found it to be information-lite for the size of the building. However the travelling exhibit on human trafficking was one of the best pieces of installation "art"/museum exhibit I have ever seen in my life and I see lots and lots and lots. It was extremely effective and affective.
