Bridgetown
I really like the look of the homes in this area but I do not have a clue
what it is like. Is anyone familiar with this area ? How friendly are the people ? Any good stores near by ? How's traffic through Cincy from there ? Does this area flood ?
Thanks so much.

It doesn't flood; it's a way from the river and on hills. Very suburban.
But that's all I know!

No, it doesn't flood, unless you live Sayler Park, North Bend, Addyston, Cleves, Hooven or E-Town, and even then only once every 31 years or so and not that bad.
Traffic is a nightmare because the only ways in and out are along the river (US 50/52) or Bridgetown Road (Ohio SR 264) or Ohio 128 or I-74.
The people, well that will depend on whether you live with West-siders or in a new subdivision with transplants from New England or some other snobbery place.
Low to no crime areas. No HUD housing (ie no Section 8), very few rental units, what rental units exist are low density (ie 4-6 four-family units not 16 ninety-six unit buildings), very few minorities and those minorities that live there have long standing roots or are educated professionals or members of the lower managerial class.
Not much difference between the two school districts (Oak Hills or Three Rivers). You shop in Western Hills or Northgate. Harrison has a Wal-Mart if you're interested in destroying the fabric of society and enriching the stinky rich even more.
No bus service and few side-walks, except those subdivisions built since the late 1970s. No real sense of community. You're a West-sider and that's it, unlike the east side where neighborhood is real important to distinguish socio-economic status.
You can still find 3-5 bedroom ranch houses in the $90s to $150s on an acre of land, or you can opt for the McMansions on a postage stamp lot in the $250s-$500s. At least the older ranches have character, and you don't have to worry about stumbling into someone else's house because they all look alike and you're just a tad bit too tipsy to tell the difference between them.

Actually the Bridgetown area is served by Metro buses...they run along Glenway with several stops in the Bridgetown area. They are primarily routes that run directly to Government Square, but there is also a crosstown route that goes up to UC and cross county a bit.
Bridgetown is also not your typical suburban neighborhood. It is more of an inner-ring suburb than your typical suburb you think of today. The houses are generally smaller, but are also clustered a little closer to together...many of the neighborhoods also boast catwalk networks that make for interesting pedestrian paths.
Oak Hills Local School District primarily serves Bridgetown (Bridgetown Middle School is in Oak Hills) and is one of the best public school districts in the region.
The area is very family oriented and is typically conservative in its values. Alright place to live, great place to raise a family.

North Bend, Addyston, Cleves, etc. are not Bridgetown. Bridgetown is a community roughly surrounding Bridgetown Rd. It is bounded by Cheviot, Dent, Delhi, Covedale and Miami Heights. It is located in Green Township, one of the most politically conservative locations in the state.
Basically Bridgetown is a middle class suburb, largely developed in the mid 1950's, although some of the more upscale parts of Bridgetown were build more recently. Many of the original home owners still live there, so there is a strong feeling of coummunity.
As was stated, it is relatively crime free with excellent schools and numerous churches.
It is not very convenient to major areas of commerce, the closest being Northgate Mall, although it is very convenient to downtown.
If you are looking for a fast pace neighborhood, filled with upwardly mobile P&G executives, Bridgetown is not for you.
If you want a friendly, inexpensive community with excellent schools where you don't have to lock your doors during the day, you may want to check it out.

Bridgetown is a fantastic place to live. I have several friends (with families) that do so. Oak Hills school district is fantastic. I would certainly recommend it as well.
