Donaldgage and Captaincatfish, I hope you don't mind me throwing my two cents in. I'm with both of you; at 53 years old I've come to have less tolerance for some of the idiocy we see and read in the media and on forums like this. And I guess maybe it's pretty much the way of the world to become less starry-*** and idealistic as you age and are exposed to so many different people. So it's easy to take the "shortcuts" like assuming most Section 8's are deadbeats, the "Reverends" Jackson & Sharpton speak for all blacks. And many other things that don't make a lot of sense if you stop and think. Even though I've come from a cushy middle-class background, and have done well for myself in life. I have to realize that, while I've made most of my good fortune through hard work, at least some of my success can be attributed to being in my station in life. I'm retired from the military and have plenty of management experience. But I honestly prefer "putting the rubber to the road" instead of being in an office. As a result, I see that many people who are paid restaurant minimum wage or by the mile or an hourly rate are taken advantage of. So are folks with specialized skills, such as IT. That's part of the reason I'm not working farther up the career ladder I see what you all go through... But I'm rambling. Life isn't always fair. I guess what I'm tryig to say is that you have to make your own luck. Unfortunately, we dwell too much on the people that are happy being "victims" and blame others for their lot in life. Instead of trying to help those that truly need and deserve it. Enjoyed your posts; there really are a lot of thoughtful C-D members.

Red face Colerain has its good and bad points

We moved to Colerain 21 years ago, living in the Groesbeck area. We've seen some changes in our neighborhood in that time, including an section 8 housing, increase in noise and crime, but it could be worse. Our's is a close knit neighborhood and we look out for each other. I was satisfied with the Northwest School District. Excellent fire and police service! The areas west in/and of the twp seem to be nicer and quieter. Monfort Heights/White Oak area is nice. All in all Colerain is a nice area ,conviently located close to downtown. We've raised two great kids in this neighborhood and that's what is important to me.

Colerain, in general, is becoming a dump. The "rural" & "family-friendly" areas mentioned by one poster are pretty much entirely found in the western part of the township. So, yes, some of Colerain is fine; but, with many homes having been rented as section-8 housing in this area, property values (obviously) have suffered. And, let's be realistic, when you live near the "geto" it's impossible to keep the "geto" from coming to you--even if you live a "family-friendly" parks, etc.
colerain becoming a dump... please if it's a dump then why
