I live in Milford.
I'm looking for a place for dance training.
My purpose is mainly for social dancing, not pro related. Another purpose is to surprise my wife and have a great dance with her at the ceremony. She dances well enough.

I have zero experience in dancing.
Any suggestions are appreciated, thanks!

You could give A-Marika Dance Company a try. A friend's sister owns it If it's not what you're looking for I'm sure Mary could recommend somewhere. 10831 Sharondale Rd, Cincinnati, OH 45241
(513) 769-0409. They have a program for kids with Down's Syndrome also, not that that would apply to you.

Arthur Murray is still around. I see where they advertise a wedding special where they have a no cost consulation package to determine what kind of wedding dance you are interested in. That is probably the hardest thing to determine.

I took what was then called ballroom dancing back in school. It was time well spent. I actually danced in a recital with a girl where I was the prince and she the princess. We danced a waltz. She was a little thing so I could easily lift her off the floor and over my shoulders. There were a number of classes over several years who participated in the recital. I was kidded constantly by classmates for this female behavior, but decided on it was a great way to meet girls.

We had several dances, the Perennial Waltz, the Fox Trot, the Jitterbug, the Samba and a number of others. But of course no Rock & Roll, it had not been invented yet.

If you go to a dance teacher, ask whether they will teach the old box step. That was the most basic step in dancing. You literally danced in a box. With both feet together take a step forward with the left foot. Then drag the right foot up, touch the left and step to the right with the right foot. Drag the left foot over to the right touch it and step backwards. Step back with the right root and touch the left. Step to the left with the left foot and drag the right back to it. You have just completed the box.
