Gangs in Cincinnati
From the looks of it, Cincinnati doesn't seem to have the major gang problems of other major cities, but I was just wondering if anyone has experienced/know of any gang problems in specific parts of Cincinnati....

Thankfully no. Surprising since there is the whole east vs. west thing going. But does that mean the city is crime free? Heck no!

Well, without an adequate space in our prison, we've got a lot of spare criminals on the street. Just hope we're not becoming Detroit.

There are gangs, don't be fooled. They are smaller and not as prominent -- or violent -- as elsewhere.

I'm not sure about Cincy but across the river in Covington there are DEFINATELY gangs... I live in Erlanger/Elsmere and there are gangs around here that are directly controlled by the gangs in Covington. It isn't Compton but it still is dangerous sometimes. Even where I live, which is kind of considered a "suburb" I watch my back. Lots of drugs.

Seems to me there was some gang activity taking place between Avondale and Bond Hill. Other than that, Cincinnati does indeed seem gang free.

Cincinnati is largely gang free in the typical sense. Although like just about every other aspect of Cincinnati, gang life is broken up into neighborhood/street networks of sort.
The largest of which was recently brought down by the feds and local authorities a couple of years ago. The "Tot Lot Posse" was located in Cincinnati's West End neighborhood and took their name from a park in which they did most of their "business." This gang was, by far, the largest drug trafficking network in the region (being located off of the drug highway for the US - I-75 didn't hurt business at all)...and were linked to an enormous amount of violent crime.
Since then the neighborhood has reclaimed the Tot Lot park and the neighborhood as a whole.

I was in the Navy with a guy from Eastgate and I am from SE Indiana. We used to ride home on long weekends together. He was a skin-head and taught me about violent and non-violent sects of skin-head culture. I don't know if they count as a gang, but his younger brother was recovering from a gun shot, was hooked on methadone & heroin, and was a skin-head. Black boots, white laces, and they all drove German cars. Does that count?
