Hello, I currently have TWC and have been happy but noticed that the speeds seemed to be throttled, when I try to use Netflix or youtube the quality is really bad. We do not have cable TV in the house and stream everything and play some games.

My questions are: Does CB throttle sites? How’s the Netflix and youtube quality? Is there a max amount of data per month you are allowed for both providers?

I tried to look for my agreement I sign with TWC but can’t seem to find anything and if there is a limit I don’t want to point that out by calling.

Thanks!

Both TWC and CB offer multiple internet speeds at different rates. The rate they both advertise is for their slowest speed. I don't know about data limits as I do nothing which is data intensive.

Yuo can go to the Netflix site to see if you are getting superhd speed. I have TWC and have not seen the bad quality except at the start of every film I watch. But that is expected until it catches up about a minute later as it buffers the stream. I use Roku.

I have a 50 gbps connection. If I found out they were doing that. I would drop them in a heart beat.

I don't know they are intentionally throttling you. But there is certainly such a thing as network saturation. If in the evening sufficient users are online requiring network services to saturate the network, they may be forced to throttle some users down to keep everyone running. They should recognize it is a deficiency in their network compared to promised services, but who knows how long it may take to correct it.

Unless you're talking about one of the new experimental HD streaming channels, Netflix doesn't stream at anything faster than 3mbps.

No major ISP delivers anything significantly faster than 3mbps the minute they realize they're streaming gobs of Netflix over the network.
