More ignorant PC BS. What the hell is wrong with Oriental? Just saying... It's no different than calling someone from Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland or Iceland a Scandinavian. Orientals originally hail from the Orient, thus the name. Stop trying to rewrite history. Those that choose to ignore past history are doomed to repeat it.

Well, there's certainly plenty of difference of opinion at this point in time as to whether the word "oriental" (when applied to person) is offensive or whether avoiding it is excessively politically correct. What I WOULD suggest is that you acknowledge that attitudes about a word's usage can change over time and that the word in question is certainly now in that process.

I'm old enough to remember when some of my relatives from my parents' generation thought the N word was a perfectly acceptable slang expression. I doubt if I'd see you trying to make the point today that THAT's no different from calling someone a Scandinavian.

I didn't say it was a PC but a Korean woman told me this, politely, 20+ years ago. Go ahead and refer to these folks, especially the young ones, as Orientals. LOL.

Oriental may now be a big PC thing but way back in the early '90s, the use of this word was ''out'' that's why it was great when you called someone out for references not heard in decades.

This thread is going nowhere constructive. I should have closed it earlier and just because I didn't, I'm not issuing more trolling infractions here.
