Having driven in all 48 states, I don't believe Cincinnati drivers are really not any different than drivers anywhere else in America. Having said that, there's some "local conditions" you might want to be aware of; Revenue Enhancement is a way of life in the Cincinnati area. (As it is elsewhere...) But you should be ESPECIALLY vigilant:

- Anywhere on the I-275 loop, especially in the suburbs that I-275 on the top side pass through

- On I-71 from the Ohio River to the I-275 loop (and maybe up to King's Island).

- All of the construction zones on I-75 from the Ohio River to Dayton!!! And the sliver of Arlington Heights that I-75 passes through

i just moved back from colorado and i find the drivers here to be really fast. columbia parkway the speed limit is 45 and if i go that speed people tail gate and pass very aggressively. if i go 55 i am still going slower than the pace of traffic.

also, on most streets within the city where there are two lanes of traffic going one direction, parking is allowed in the curb lane, so no one drives there except for quick maneuvers

Cincinnati drivers are courteous -- to a fault. They'll slam on their brakes to let you merge onto the freeway, never mind the cars behind them. Or they'll stop dead to let you turn left from the right lane.

They also think everyone around them should do the same for them, and get ticked when that doesn't happen.

Ohio drivers do not like to use their turn signals I have noticed.

Exactly what Ohiogirl81 said. I never understood the slamming on brakes thing people do here. If the lane is clear beside you, just move over! Oh, and to answer the question, definitely slow.

Slow. Alot of people can't merge on interstates, and as mentioned before, people break for no reason.

Cincinnati drivers are undoubtedly slow, and I'm not sure I would place the drivers here in the courteous category. I don't consider constantly encountering some snail driver in the far left lane, driving under the speed limit, and refusing to move over as courteous. Like ausiNati said, drivers here will brake for no freakin' reason and use every millimeter of the acceleration lane before merging into traffic.

I will say, in the defense of slow drivers, I-71 is HEAVILY patrolled by police. In fact, the whole state is. Ohio seems to dedicate a lot of time and effort into generating revenue from speeding tickets. You can ride through the whole state of KY and not see one cop. The southeastern states can be pretty bad though. I've been stopped in TN, GA (twice), and SC. Gotta love the trees the state troopers hide in down there.

I run I-71 down to Louisville several times a week and have found that cops patrol it on a REGULAR basis. Holidays are pretty much guaranteed to have plenty of revenuin' goin' on... best chances are near mile markers 55, 44, 34 and anywhere in Oldham County. Even NoKY sets up on I-71/75 on a daily basis.

^I guess I've been getting lucky then. I'm usually pushing 85mph the whole way to Louisville, and the same goes for I-75 down and past Lexington. Speaking of speeding, I just heard on the news, Ohio state troopers only need a "visual estimate" to issue speeding citations. If I'm not mistaken, the law was just passed today.
