cincy rise you are clueless do you think a few condos is going to change this city?
the 3rd poorest city in the nation? a volatile murder rate? a pathetic service economy plus inflation plus recession? keep in mind, west chester and mason and similar communities are leeches. they eat off of the plight of the city centres such as cinti and hamilton. think about that when you praise metro growth. a third of the city's social services are located in otr/west end. that means its a magnet for the poor. otr has promise, but for who? the people who grew up there can barely afford to live there, but its a saved area if 100 lb white women can spend 100,000 on a condo and indirectly encourage dispersal of the black folks down there. its frustrating to black ppl that the city wont use comprehensive methods to help the area that whites long bailed on, but will sell it out now that urban living is trendy again. can you see why this city riots so much? its a great city, but it is easily one of the most unfair cities in america. 43% pct of white cinti has a h.s. diploma 25% pct of black cinti has a h.s diploma thats all ages education is the determining factor in economic vitality and crime among social groups cps-75 million deficit. a truly pathetic district. one of the 5 worst in america with cleveland, new orleans, detroit and indianapolis just dont go claiming this city is saved off a little gentrification. 75% of cincinnati is considered a no-fly zone by alot of ppl. just look at the list of 52 neighborhoods. |

^Hillside...do you have any sources for some of those outlandish statements you so easily made...or is it just sensational rhetoric meant to boost your own ego at the expense of others?
Additionally, I don't think anyone is advocating the displacement of black residents in Over-the-Rhine. And even though there are new condos going in that are higher priced than many of the surrounding blocks - that doesn't mean that existing residents are getting pushed out. Bear in mind that the neighborhood that was once home to roughly 40-50k is down now to around 9k. There is plenty of room for new residents and if things are done properly, as 3CDC has stated they intend to do, then inclusionary measures can be put into place to ensure that the displacement of lower-income residents doesn't happen. |

outlandish?
i just gave you plenty of meat. the graduation disparity? 2004 numbers. school districts are like any other civic sector. they dont turn around overnight and seeing that big deficit probably means the numbers are close to accurate. for the social services stat, check the enquirer 06-07 articles around the time dohoney thought about centralizing the city's many health clinics to one...in otr. are you disputing that cinti is among the poorest, most violent, economically and socially troubled cities in america? if no, then it is obvious to you that the city has much to do outside of downtown, and within downtown for that matter. if yes, i dont know how, you must be ignoring alot of things that go on there inclusion has long been a problem tangled in corruption and good ole boyism in cincinnati. corruption? in cincinnati? no way in fact, the city was sued over inclusion or lack thereof in 2001 and the naacp had to raise hell in the papers to force the banks group and 3cdc to include minorities at a (still not) acceptable levels for a soon to be 50% black city. 10% quota on the workforce and contracts issued is not good enough. |

Wow i read some ugly things about this great city on this board! People lighten up! The original poster is coming from Chi-town! And we all know, nobody wants to live there!
Some of you peoples post make Cincinnati seem like Detroit! And Nobody wants to live there! And i cant imagine who would just love living in Newport or Covington Kentucky! A 90lb woman living in OTR is probably a crackhead! But theres rich crackheads in amberly village and also in our 'Whitehouse' in D.C. as well! There are movie stars and politicians with ghetto mentality! and most of them are on drugs of some kind! and... You know.....iam RIGHT!!!!!!!!! Come to this beautiful city, live here, and find what neighborhood you like best! I would not be surprised in the least if you like Walnut hills(not stuck-up E. walnut hills) Evanston or Advondale! Good luck in your search, it will be just fine! |
