i really really appreciate everyone posting their ideas. i had heard clifton gaslight before from someone else in the area, but not pleasant ridge. i will check it out. as for the tone, i get it. i was excited about the diversity in indy, but have seen that a lot of the time it is coexistance and not interaction. baby steps. i want my husband and i, and our kids to have friends of lots of races/religions/ethnicity. i know i'll have to work for that no matter where i live, but it's easier some places than others! also, i'd rather my kids not be the only black/biracial kids in their classes.... i also get that we want what a lot of people want with less money to pay for it lol.... i'm excited to check out everyone's suggestions.

Gaslight would be great. A 3BR for $1000 would be a stretch, though.

we could do a two bedroom. we're in one now but our daughter is only eight months old. with three kids it's tough. places i've contacted previously won't rent a two bedroom to a family of five.
