I am considering a job offer in the Cincinnati area, and have some question about the area.

I am relocating from the southwestern US, and I am looking for a very safe, low crime suburban area with really good public schools, and lots of family soccer mom type activities.

My job would be south of town in New Richmond area on the Ohio River, and I would like to keep my commute time under 40 minutes one way.

Looking to buy a newer house for about $350k-$400k

Thanks.

Plenty of nice East side suburbs and Northern Kentucky suburbs would work fine. Fort Thomas in KY is a standout. I'd also look at Anderson Township for Ohio.

This ^^^

I think Ft. Thomas or Anderson Township are your choices. Ft. Thomas is a really good suggestion because you would cross 471 against traffic and it would be a 20 minute commute. Anderson Township will offer you some new houses.

How is the area around Eastgate Mall? I noticed there were some brand new houses there, as well as plenty of shopping.

The area around Eastgate Mall has been exploding with development, both commercial and residential. My oldest daughter who lives with us in Mason works for a company which moved from Hebron KY to the Eastgate Mall area back near the middle of last year. She just complains that traffic is becoming more and more congested rapidly. She also remarks the new residential construction is rapidly escalating in price.

i'm not as familiar with the ohio side of the river, but union, kentucky is also a really nice area to consider, imo. it's at the very high end of your maximum commute time, but there are beautiful neighborhoods in that price range. good luck in your search.

I'm not sure that you can find a house for $350k in Eastgate near the Mall. I doubt there is a house in walking distance to the Mall that is close to that price. the average being maybe $175k. But, if you are planning on home schooling it may be the place.

I do not like the Eastgate Mall area...a very mediocre mall, by the way.
You might like the Anderson Township area (relative to your drive to work): there is a range of housing (price points) options. There are pockets of cul-de-sac neighborhoods; then there is the classic block neighborhoods. (Anderson is not too far from Eastgate Mall, just to give you a geographic snapshot.)

Anderson Township is a great location. But once again it is just a township. I want to hear what makes it an advantage over West Chester or Liberty Townships? To me, West Chester is just building off of the stability of Mason to its east. Once people realize what an actual city brings to the front, maybe these townships might realize they need to incorporate.
