Default Moving to Cincy

Looking for an area around Cincinnati that has a small townish feel to it, with decent school systems and not very expensive for homes. Any ideas?

I have a daughter who will be starting high school 9th grade, and one in 7th grade.
Thanks

My two personal favorites communities are Monroe and Lebanon. Both have a small home town feel, but good schools, low crime and right off the expressway so commuting is easy. Both communities are also growing, with new schools, and new building going on, but home values and rents are still very reasonable. Will you be buying, or renting once you get here?

I also like Mason & West Chester, but they are bigger and more expensive.

The only community that Linda mentioned that could have a small town feel is Lebanon but it is a good comute to the city. Better areas would be Wyoming, Marimont, and Maderia. All three of these have great school systems and quant downtown business disctricts.

Or you could move into a nice area of the city and send your kids to one of the best highschools in the country.......that would be Walnut Hills High School!!

Lebanon should have some less expensive housing options that Wyoming or Mariemont. I'm afraid I didn't do much looking at Madeira, so can't make any comparisons there.

It would be about 35 - 45 minutes into Cincinnati (about 35 into Dayton). Do you need to be in the actual city, or just in the metropolitan area?

Thanks! I recently starting working at the VA in Cincinnati and live in Dayton and would like a shorter commute, currently 45-75 depending on traffic.

Where do you live for Walnut Hills schools? This is a good school?

It's one of the best in the country. It's in the Cincinnati school district so anywhere w/in the city is good (I personally like Pleasant Ridge and Clifton). I believe you have to take an entrance exam to get in. Here's the link to the school website. Walnut Hills High School

Deer Park and Reading are both small suburbs just outside the city of Cincinnati and definately have small town feels to them. Most of the houses go between 75k-125k, and crime in both areas is low and the school systems are decent (not great... but decent). Both are blue-collar areas that are 90-95% white but if that doesn't bother you then they should be good places for you.

I keep edging towards movie near Cincinnati (within like a half hour drive at the most)
How often do Tornados hit in and around the city? What areas around the city are the cleanest? Maybe a smaller town with lots of convience...

Also...I know that Indiana has severe radon issues...does the area around Cinc. suffer the same? Oh! Also, does it get a lot of snow? (btw..Reading, OH sounds very interesting)
