Default Milford?

Honestly, I have heard many good things about this place, good growth in the population. But what is this town like if you were to see it in person, which I still have yet to do? More subdivisions....or more main street type?

Apparently there's a historic Milford (which my realtor told me about) and then sprawl. So - there's either, main street or suburban, depending upon which you want.

I went out and looked at some of the sprawl-y types. If you like McMansions and Sprawl (I don't mind it, I recognize it for what it is) - its quite nice. More high-end, larger properties, nicer amenties in the communities.

A lot of parks, soccer fields, etc.. Very "Suburban with kids" feeling.

But I did not see the historic downtown part, as at that time in my wanderings I did not know there was a historic part.

to reply to traveler87's questions about milford...i just reciently moved from there, back to calif.,anyhow,..the area itself is pretty suburban..pretty quiet, with pretty friendly people..the downtown area is roughly a few blocks along the little miami river(for reference)...so,it isnt really that large...
whats nice about the area,as well as the surrounding areas of loveland, indian hill..and eastgate areas is that no matter where,in the cincinnati area you want to go,you're within 20 to 30 mins.of it,depending on where in town, and traffic(worst on 75 and 71)...want to head to shopping areas near tri county,or up in westchester,25 mins max away, heading downtown,or newport on the levy..in newport ky,along the oh. river..20 to 25 mins. max on the freeway(275) which loops completely around cincinnati, and surrounding areas...including milford's front door......
...not a bad place to raise a family...or start one..check it out

Milford proper is an older river town, with some really gorgeous old houses and neighborhoods. The downtown itself goes through phases of revitalization, although most of the storefronts in the historic area are occupied most of the time. There are some specialty stores there -- a vacuum cleaner repair shop, a train store, a bridal shop, a frame/art shop -- that bring their loyal customers to town.

Promont, on Main Street (Ohio 28) on the way out toward I-275 just past the shopping center, was the home of Ohio Gov. John Pattison, and is worth looking at. It's a beautiful Italianate mansion on a hill, overlooking the town -- at one time, it was out in the farmland. The local historical society runs it, and they've done a marvelous job.

The more suburban-y, cornfield subdivision part is not Milford, but Miami Township.
