I'll be visiting Cincinnati in a month and I'm aware that will be the first operating weekend of the season for Kings Island. I'm leaning towards visiting on Sunday and am curious how busy the park is traditionally on the first weekend. Am I looking at 4th of July type crowds? Or perhaps the last week in August volume when many kids are in school?

I lived in Cincy for about 7 years (left in 2003) and live near Disney World now so my tolerance for very long lines isn't too great since I like to time theme park visits to when they're not overly crowded.

This board is a slight bit of fresh air in comparison to Orlando FYI. It's depressing there.

You are looking at 4th of July type crowds. Think 2 hour waits for the coasters.

Yes, come the last couple weeks of August. Summer break ends earlier these days than when I was a kid. I'm thinking they'll all be in school by Aug. 18. Get there when it opens, and they'll be no one, but mom's with preschoolers there.

The first weekend will be bonkers; especially if the weather is nice. I despise crowds, so you couldn't pay me to go there then.

BTW - Kings Island's opening weekend is this coming Saturday, April 16th but it's closed on Sunday the 17th for a private corporate event.

You're right KI did already open. My bad about the dates. I might just play it by ear since I'll be running the marathon that Sunday morning. If I don't use the ticket, I can turn around and sell it when I get home. It's good until May 30th.
