Yes, the Prime and Wine in Kenwood was rebuilt. The rebuilt restaurant was nothing special, alas. I don't know if it's still open.

There's a Magic Wok in Mariemont; it's now in the Mariemont Promenade on Wooster Pike, halfway down the hill toward Newtown. I can't remember where it was before that.

Did they ever rebuild the Prime and Wine?

I will probably think of a few more later.
I think the revolving restaurant on the river was on top of a Howard Johnson's for years and then it became a Holiday Inn. I ate there for my
18th birthday dinner. I don't know what it is now or if it is even still there. I don't get "home" as often as I used to. Living in Nashville now. Reading this really makes me miss downtown Cincinnati and the N.Ky area. aybe I should have kept on heading north instead of Nashville.

Does anyone remember the Islands restaurant--it was on a riverboat. Is that still there? That was the big deal place to go for class of '87.

You know, I wondered when I read the OP if the HoJo wasn't that place with the revolving restaurant. It's changed hands so many times, I couldn't remember. I believe it's a Clarion hotel now. We used to go to that restaurant for Sunday Brunch a lot when I was a teenager (class of '85, whoo!)

And yeah, I remember the Islands. They had that cool outdoor bar area with hot tubs and tropical looking stuff. It was on a separate barge that used to break loose all the time and float downstream. I'm not sure if there's still a restaurant there, though.

That revolving restaurant opened in the mid-70's, and is still in business. I guess it's stayed the same (whether that's good or bad), but not long ago it made the news for a wrong reason - large drunken customer attacked a cop. Seemed "out of character" for the business, so I hope the negative publicity had no lasting effect. The hotel it's perched atop was first known as the Quality Inn.

I believe there was a restaurant in Kenwood called Annette's, right
around the time they built the enclosed mall. It was run by Frisch's.
Was this the predecessor of Prime & Wine?

Frisch's ran another, more upscale restaurant in Norwood later on. Legend
had it that this is where they trained some of the managers for their Big Boy
stores.

Thank you all for your answers.

The prime and wine was in Kenwood and was owned by Frisch's, it did burn to the ground,

The Howard Johnson's was right near I-71 on Montgomery Road I believe. next door to the Howard Johnson was the Magic Wok, it was in a shopping center I believe. This was back in 1981 and 1982. I would imagine that Howard Johnson is long gone, but possibly the Magic Wok is still there?

I live out of state now, but may drive up there someday just to see what has changed.

Also the revolving restaurant in covington was called "The Riveriew" I have eaten there several times.

The Wigwam was demolished to make way for an office building & townhouse complex several years ago. NCH ain't what it used to be. I never ate/partied there, but it did make a good landmark for Galbraith & Hamilton.

Who-all remembers the Carousel Inn in its heyday, complete with the La Ronde Room?

Our family used to hit the Wigwam every couple of months, back in the
day. I remember a waffle-like cracker they used to serve, along with
the dinner rolls, in the breadbasket. Schuller's Wigwam was a fairly
large spread, with banquet rooms in the lower level. It was the sort of
one-off, family-style restaurant you see less and less of these days,
kind of like a big MacIntosh's or, if anyone recalls driving through
Lafeyette on the way to Chicago during the pre-Interstate days, the
venerable Sarge Biltz restaurant.

The Wigwam was located at North Bend and Hamilton: the corner
of Galbraith and Hamilton had a Frisch's, a Roy Roger's and a
discount store called Ontario. Ontario, FWIW, also had a branch on
Ridge near Kennedy Heights.

Anyone know whether this was the same Schuller as was associated
with Schuller's motel (Motor Inn?) on Reading, across from
Summit Lanes?

La Ronde - fine dining through the 1960's, but began to undergo
frequent changes in name and fare beginning around 1970. I can
recall being taken there as a child. It's what we used to call a
"dress up" place.

Old Cincy folk!! Yes the Wigwam had really good food. My father took us everywhere around the city and the surrounding areas. He loved Davis Buffet and we went to the Howard Johnson's and the Boat-Windjammers on Sharon Road. The hotel Howard Johnson on Ridge is still there, they do not have any dining services anymore. The Chinese buffet is located next door to it and many other fast food places are closely located. Ontario on Ridge-boy is that a memory. Some nights we preferred to stay in the car and just wait for the long drawn out shopping between our mother and our older sister. I was really young then. This is when you could leave your children in the car and would not get in trouble. My siblings and I would have great fun waiting for my older sister and mother to return to the car. Sometimes it would be three hours of waiting, but we had fun amongst ourselves. There were days where I just stayed in the car by myself. Ontario, Zayres (sp), Twin Fairs, Ben's (downtown), Dollar Shoe Store (Kentucky), and K-Mart were the stores of the day. During the holidays and school time we went to Pogues, Mabley (sp) and Carew, Sears on Reading Road, and Foxes on Court Street.
