Are you sure you aren't thinking of the one in Northgate? Originally, it was Johnny Bench's Home Plate. That closed and Pete Rose opened a restaurant there. That closed and it became a Prime 'n' Wine and burned down due to arson. I didn't know Frisch's had an interest in Prime 'n' Wine and wonder if maybe they didn't sell out later on. Anyway, all three of those restaurants sucked. I'd rather go to Dante's or Maury's Tiny Cove.

Prime & Wine, Howard Johnsons
Prime & Wine was sat on the SE corner of Montgomery and Kenwood Roads. It was originally Annettes and was owned by Frisch's. I believe named after Frisch's owners wife. The name was changed to Prime and Wine, still owned by Frisch's. It did partially burn and then was demolished. The Howard Johnsons was directly across the street NE corner. It disappeared a long time ago.
Dockside 6 was in Norwood in the Quality Hotel. It was also originally owned by Frisch's. It has gone through several lives and is know a wings restaurant.
I really liked Prime & Wine and Dockside 6. Great food at both places.

Mircea, something tells me you're a West Sider. Have you heard anything about what might go in to replace Habig's? Also I've noticed that Rondo's is set to close, if it hasn't already, due to the owners' moving to France. The Window Garden is still missed by many. Lots of changes have been going on around Westwood when it comes to dining out, but I suspect the "flagship" LaRosa's on Boudinot will be there for another century or so.
My parents used to love spending an evening at the "Gourmet Room" in the Terrace Hilton downtown, another "dressy" place to be sure. They'd go there for "occasions." Anybody else have recollections about that restaurant?

Back in the day (here we go again) Cincinnati had three restaurants
that traded the coveted "Five Star" rating back and forth. These were
The Gourmet Room, The Maisonette and Pigall's. I believe, but am not
certain, that at one time all three held the rating. If so, this would have
been quite a distinction for Cincinnati, given its size.
The closest I ever got to any of these was Pigall's, when its rating was
four stars, as well as La Normandie, which was located in the lower level
of the Masionette. Parents and their friends, however, did step out to
these spots on occasion.

My wife had a gift certificate to the Maisonette in the '70s but we were pretty young then (and intimidated by things French) and ended up giving it to someone else.
I did go to Pigall's once for a business lunch and also LaNormandie.
They were nice but I was glad I wasn't paying the bill.

Prime and Wine, I loved that place...yes it burned down,it was located in the parking lot of what we used to call Kenwood Mall, but is now Sycamore Plaza I think. Its funny I remember when Kenwood Towne Center was just a very long strip plaza.

Some of our favorite resturants were of course Frishes Mainliner, or any Frishes really. I have been away from Ohio for 35 years......so when I do come to visit I bring the tarter sauce home to last for awhile., plus some Larosa's sauce....but as a kid it was fun when we were at the fountain square waiting for a bus back to the Manor..we would get something at the Wiggins resturant. Just me and Mom........

Anyone remember Bob Braun's restaurant? I remember I ate there once and had a pork chop and thought I was going to die when I took a bite of it. No wonder they closed down...lol...also, is Ollie's Trolley still around? They used to be located across from Procter & Gamble right next to the Red Foxx Grill. I used to get an Ollie burger with cheese and their special sauce and fries with extra spices...those were the best fries I have ever had in my life.

Ollie's isn't at that location any more, but it still exists. I think it's on West Liberty, near Central. They also had another branch at 12th and Greenup in Covington. Not sure if that one's still open. Their fries are still awesome!

How about Ted's Steak House which I think was on 6th St. and Kluszewski's Steak House which, as I remember, was on Walnut?
