As much as I'm sure you would love to imagine the shock of some fishbelly white family shivering and securing car doors at the sight of more than one black person, I am going to have to disappoint. I am Native AM (full) and went to an 85% black H.S. It's not that there were black people in OTR... It was that there were very intoxicated black people that looked as though they had been sleeping in a dumpster, being arrested all over the place. It was a chaotic and sad scene. I would probably be more depressed than uneasy if I had to live in close proximity to that kind of thing.

Funny, I never experienced that in OTR. People tend to over react a lot. OTR is a great area, that is making one of the largest comebacks of an urban neighborhood in the country. I would like to buy a loft here. I remember walking through downtown Dallas and going through some of the situations that you just talked about, not saying it doesn't happen, WELCOME TO LARGE CITIES! |

I'm glad when an area that seems to have died can be revitalized also. I think it's great! But after you've lured the young professionals to relocate downtown and spend their money here, what do you do about the people that have been displaced? The problem of poverty and the need for good quality low income housing still is an issue, all you've done is relocated the problem. The lofts look great! Now what about the other folks who where already living there or are still around?

Oh and just admit it... the western portion of the place is a complete sh*thole. You know it is. Suburban methlabs and public intoxication? How easy was that mindless drivel to spew. Pfft!! |

Oh bs. I've driven through there and I don't care if you're black, white, green w/e, but when you see 20 or so people on every corner that looks like thugs, and they yell at you as you drive by or stare at you constantly..you feel scared. Period. And don't tell me you were being sarcastic

It doesn't matter, this whole area could be revitalized, but one building still stands that someone doesn't like, and then it all goes back to some sh**hole. People need to get over the fact that OTR has some bad history. It is changing, and has been voted numerous times as one of the greatest comebacks in any American city.

What you mean you didn't know crime was just a thing that happens in Cincinnati? Its called a major city, this stuff happens all over the place. I am so tired of people bashing Cincinnati when they probaly have yet to go to the BAD areas of other cities. It happens in all areas of the country WITH LARGE POPULATIONS!! Come on people, don't subject it to just ONE area.
