For many years I lived in a suburb of Cincinnati. Grocery shopping was a trip to Krogers or Albers once a week, with supplemental shopping at a small Mom and Pop in the neighborhood. Other major shopping was trips to the department stores -clothing, household dry goods, rugs and furniture, etc. It was a system that worked well for most.

Now that the department stores have disappeared (with few exceptions - Macys, Nordies, etc.) I have to travel around to various businesses to see what offerings they have and to price check and compare. Not as easy as one-stop shopping.

Alternately, I can shop online. No tactile examination, no true color identification but also no driving.
How do you shop and what's your feeling about it.

Although well inside a sizable city (Dayton) with good public transportation as well as wide, flat streets, I started mail order shopping somewhere around 1960 as the local selection of clothes was too limited.

I buy any way possible, including via other people, any place reasonably priced except for online purchasing. If the stuff is only online, I'd ask for a catalogue or whatever and still use the U.S. mail, with which, incidentally, you can buy at midnight if that's what's convenient.
