Granted I have not seen the rail line in Cincy but I have seen the one in KC. And this one runs in a loop. Terminate it at any point and you have a dead end and the trolley hits a dead end.
Yes the route right now is a loop. There would be no need to have a line for it to detour. All you would need is a line on Second St that goes from Elm to Race. That way if this theoretical bridge was out, all it would need to do is make the turn to second instead of going straight.

It's not that simple. The amount of prep work involved with getting the rail line set up, even a small one of just a few blocks will take years. Utilities will likely have to be moved again. Getting the proper permits to do this will take months. Then assuming that happens the actual development of the new segment is going to take several more months. A Switch would need to be added and then the means to have it remotely managed when the street car has to switch lines.

Something of this nature would need to be incorporated into the expansion of the line going across the river and built simultaneously. Since NKY is talking about developing Slight Rail now, no doubt the concept of hooking it up with the Cincy line is a possibility. Therefore this has to be addressed if they ever decide to run a line over the Ohio River or any river for that matter. Bridges deteriorate and have to be replaced. Not a question if "if" but "when".

The Enquirer is reporting the opening weekend ridership was over 50,000. Obviously this number will drop, but a very impressive start. They also ran a story yesterday about it being packed for the lunch crowd.

I'm shocked and disappointed that we haven't heard from more board members' experiences in the opening weekend.

We rode on Sunday afternoon. Yup, it's a streetcar. It was very crowded with lots of enthusiastic people taking selfies. Yours truly included. Buying tickets at the kiosks looks easy- of course it was free this weekend. The CincyEZRide app is simple to use.

It's a great start, now let's get behind getting it up the hills!

I rode on Saturday morning around 11. Had to let the first streetcar pass because it was too crowded to board. Was able to fit on the next one. Nice fun ride. Felt cool with the a/c, packed with people of all different races, age and gender. Lots of people taking pictures. Tons of people got off at Findlay Market.

Cool. I think the family will try it out in the next three weeks. Plan on starting in Washington Park and ride down to Banks for lunch or dinner, and ride it back up.
