My point is this. Mass transit is needed but it can never and will never be able to replace a car when it comes to being able to reach virtually any point in North America in a reasonable amount of time.
No one suggested otherwise. But we could do a lot better at making public transit a viable alternative to driving for a larger percentage of the population.

Uh, I don't think so. If people want to be unemployed and broke, they need to get used to walking.

Care to explain why?

Why would someone want to be unemployed and broke? And, what does that have to do with public transportation?

Well, it is a well known fact that many companies go begging for workers if they are not near a bus line. This is especially true in small towns or rural areas where manufacturing may be present. I think that may be Wilson's point. If not, it is a valid point that needs to be raised. Having a car would allow someone that can't find a job on a mass transit line (due to more competition for jobs) to have a shot at something where he or she would face less competition for a job.

If you need a car, then buy a car. But, it makes no sense to own a car just in case you might need one, someday.

Now you are getting it. No need to build a Slight Rail line or system when you already have bus lines in place or light or heavy rail.

What am I getting?

I understand the 2nd sentence is your opinion. But I don't understand how it relates to the last few posts.

The Rhinegiest stop had been the biggest problem with causing delays on the lines because of ride sharing drop off/pick ups. When I rode the streetcar to Rhinegiest on Saturday around 4pm there was a Rhinegeist employee at the station to make sure nobody was blocking the tracks. Same thing when I left around 7pm to get dinner at A Tavola. Props to them for solving the problem, shows how much they realize their relationship with the streetcar is symbiotic. BTW, both times I rode it was standing room only.

It's not even noon yet on May 1st. They'll probably come out later this week or next week. Depends on the city council schedule. Do you have the numbers for the 6 month behind schedule and incredibly over budget MLK on ramp that opened last week?
