Anyone who drives the I-75 corridor for any length of time, between Cincinnati and Dayton, but particularly between the Ohio River and I-275, surely realizes that they are taking their life in their hands. Hardly a week goes by without a serious or fatal accident in that stretch.

This section of expressway was a problem from the very beginning as the Interstate highway system was developed. "...there is no stretch that is both straight and flat measuring longer than 1000 ft in the 17 miles between the Brent Spence Bridge and I-275, with the exception of the immediate approach to the loop highway."

I-75 history:
Interstate 75 Cincinnati

Driving this road in any vehicle is a grueling experience, with construction zones featuring 2-3 weaving narrow lanes pinched in between barriers and no breakdown lanes to bail into if there is a problem. This stretch of roadway also has the highest density of semi-truck traffic in the area which is a deadly mix for smaller vehicles. Combine this with truck drivers that refuse to slow down to a safe speed, auto drivers that are constantly weaving in and out of holes in traffic, distracted drivers on cell phones, impaired drivers and tailgaters - and you have one of the most dangerous corridors in the US.

It's worth an additional 5-10 minutes and a few more miles to take I-275 or another alternate route to avoid this stretch.

I absolutely avoid I-75 like the plague if I can. It's well worth the time to take an alternate route.
