Here are a couple more satellite views showing what's left of the old Eastwood Drive. The first photo shows Eastwood School. To the right is the new Eastwood Drive. Below Duck Creek Road you can see Eastwood Circle. Just above Eastwood Circle is what's left of old Eastwood Drive which was the entry drive into Stratford Manor. The dirve now ends at a warehouse area. The warehouse must be pretty close to where the shopping center for the Manor was located.

This image is a closer look at the old Eastwood Drive. It's pretty blurry. To the right is the school. Below is Duck Creek Road.

By the way, when you click on the thumbnail photos, you'll see a larger image of it. If you click on that larger image, it will show you the full size of the photo.

NightBazaar, Those pictures turned out good. I''ts hard for me to remember that the school was that big. I'm wondering if there was ever additions to it through the years. It's probably just me. Anyway I'm real happy with all the imput that has been on here, I hope it continues. Hyden

Hyden, here is a comparison of images. The first one is from 1968, the second is more recent (maybe a couple of years or so ago). I don't remember the zigzag building when I went there though. I think it was just a field, but I could be wrong.

Shwanoe, I talked to my brother Ronnie last night and he said to ask you if these names are familiar.... From the Home he named a girl named Zesta and she had 3 or 4 sisters, Reba Perkins, Pat Zinn. Some he knew from the Trail...Ronnie Opal, Bob Boswell, Danny Repitilla, John and Steve Berry..he said John had worked at the drug store and they had a sister. Ronnie said that when he was in 6th grade he was a crossing gaurd on Duck Creek and there were some houses on the left between the Manor and the Trail..there was a girl he thinks her name was Susan Richardson. He said he'll probably think of more names. Hyden

Hyden, My sister and I do remember Zesta, she lived in Streitman at the Home, which was funny because Zesta crackers were made by Streitman (now Kebbler). I do remember the name, Reba Perkins, Ronnie Opal, Bob Boswell, Danny Ripatello, who also had other brothers named David, Mike, and one other brother I can't remember. I was friends with David. Danny dated Gayle Iliff who had a sister named Carol. Jon and Steve Berry were good friends and very cute. Jon did work at the drugstore with my Mom, Dessie. Sue Ritchie lived on Overbrook and we were best friends for years. She had 3 brothers, Dave, the oldest, Frank and Phil knowned as Deke. Frank and Phil played football for Withrow and U.C. My sister and I are going out today to take pictures of Stratford Manor, Eastwood Circle, Ellmarie Dr., Children's Home and Shawnoe Trail for you. We will post them either this evening or tomorrow if possible. Happy Valentine's Day! It's so nice to talk to people who lived during our times. Thanks for all the info. Let us know if there are areas here you would like for us to take pictures of for you. We're going to check to see if the farms are still around, but I'm sure they are the Inudstrial Park now. We do have pictures of our childhood taking at Eastwood School and the strip mall where the drugstore was. We'll look through them, but some are probably on slides, but I do have a slide scanner so I'll be able to download them for you. Have a good day, we're heading out for our excursion.

ChiDiana, My mom was the waitress at the drugstore and her name is Dessie. She worked there from 1957 till it closed in the 70's. It was called Hogue's Drugs owned by the pharmacist, Ray Hogue, who had 2 sons who worked there--gorgeous--Ray, JR.(?) and Mike. He sold it to Dave Poppe and I think the name became Eastwood Drugs, who later sold to Jerry Davis. I worked there for a while in 1969. Lots of kids came in for hot dogs and soup. My Mom made the greatest malts and do you remember the iceball machine? The store had lots of candy, records, toys, magazines, makeup. Mom worked the entire store--both sides, if you remember that. Love those cherry cokes that were served in the original coke glasses!! I had a set that I bought from the salesman, but I've broken everyone except one that I still have. Do you remember Thriftway, a bakery, pizza parlor, barber shop (Dave the barber), and possibly another store?

Shawnoe, Ronnie said that you and him seemed to know alot of the same people. He asked if anyone remembered a Linda Wendt? I may not be spelling it right. Also did you know the Woosley's? Danny Ripotella was in the accident that Connie Woosley died in, I don't remember his injury but 1 or 2 others died .

Ronnie and me were talking on the phone about the drug store, I guess it probably was your mother working and how we would order drinks called ( I don't know how to spell it , so it sounds like) False Fates , it was different flavors.. lime, orange grape, cherry. The wood phone booths....Thrithway closing at 6:00 PM and all day Sundays. WOW!! Shwanoe did you say you graduated from Withrow? What year? Looking forward to your posts, Hyden

We were at Eastwood Elementary in 2000...the school was just as it is pictured below. I took a lot of photos. It was definitely an amazing walk into the past.

I would love to see photos of the shopping center, etc. All the photos everyone has shared have been wonderful and such fun to see. Thanks!

Bethany, I wouldn't doubt that someone somewhere out there has some photos that show the shopping center. The link below has a newspaper clipping with a photo of the daycare and clinic near the shopping center.
