Hyden - thanks for putting in a good word about my blog postings. I'm doing fine and also reading the forum here every day. I wished I had more to contribute to this site but I've posted all my pics and memories and I don't have anything else. Keep up the good things you've done here because so many of us appeciate it and find it special. I'm still around lurking and reading....LOL

AFD - "Ole Dave" is still here. Thanks for thinking of me. I will be passing though Cincy in Aug along I-71 on my way to Columbus. I plan to exit long enough to go up to the overlook and take some pics of the Stratford Manor area from there. Will post them here of course. If anyone wants me to take pics of specific places/buildings etc in the Stratford Manor area, just ask. I'll do it as long as I have good directions so I don't get lost. Will probably stop in Milford for a few hours to ride some of the bike trail that goes through there. Haven't done that since I left the Dayton area in 2001. I used to ride from Xenia to Milford and back on the bike trail (52 mi each way)

Introducing myself
Hello, Hyden and forum members,
My family lived at 4985 Strathmore Drive, in one of the cottages, from approximately 1958 to 1964.
This is a wonderful site. Thank you, Hyden, for creating it and to everyone for enriching it with their memories.

Lewislm, welcome to the thread. Glad to have you join in the nostalgia. Your family photo is excellent. How old were you at the time? I'm trying to envision where the apt building was located. From the address, I'd guess somewhere near Shelbourne Drive. Does that sound about right?

Thank you, NightBazaar.
I was around 11 or 12 when this photo was taken. The cottage faced Strathmore Drive, at the west end of Strathmore and was farthest from the street. Behind us was a large parking area and a back drive that led to the small shopping plaza. Our cottage (or bungalow) was in the same court where the Hydens lived at that time, in the early 60's.

Okay, I understand the area you're talking about. Thank you.
The reason why the address near Shelbourne came to mind for me was because of our own address on Kingsley Drive, which was 5049. Unless I'm mistaken, Strathmore Drive was also one street south of Kingsley.

NightBazaar, You probably are right about the road relationships. I don't recall them clearly.
It looks like I am in additional photos already posted on the website (page 31). In the sixth grade class picture, I am standing in the back row, in a dress with a wide 'v' design. In front is Jerry Pratt in his crossing guard uniform. The hairstyle positively identifies me, being similar to the one I wore in the Lewis family photo.

Ah-hah! I found you in the school photo!
Admittedly, I'm not all that familiar of what was over on the west side of the Manor, apart from the shopping center and the "West Side Woods". I lived somewhat on the east side of the Manor, not far from the "East Side Woods". We moved out of the Manor in the Spring of 1958 or 59 (hard to remember which).
I'm still stumped about the name of the road that bordered the farm.
