Endres in 1927 and hung in the dining hall until Oakley Elem. was demolished. Also, if you have any information regarding why the school was demolished and where it was located, that would be great!
Thanks!

Glad to have you join us Lindsay. I attended Oakley Elementary for one year in the mid-50s. I'm sure I must've seen the mural, but unfortunately I don't remember it.
The Castellini Foundation Room at the Cincinnati Art Museum has it. I don't know if this is the one from Oakley, but it might be. The photo isn't very large. You might contact the Art Museum and ask if it's the one from Oakley School.

As for the school, it appears it was closed and demolished in 1980. As to why, I'd guess it was just too old. Scroll down the page until you reach the photo of Oakley School.

Hello Everyone !! My brother said there were some new posts on here. I am really glad to see the theater pic. We used to go to as kids. Brings back memories I also like to see a photo of the old Oakley Drive-In on madison towards madisonville. I worked there some after school on fridays and then the weekends when I was in 10th -11th grade. I worked with friends from earlier years " The Motleys" great friends and still keep in touch today. Its good to see suzq and nightbazaar on here again
I'm going to google to see if I can find that sign. Hyden

Did you click on "All Sizes" in the upper left corner? It gives a blow up view of the photo. As soon as I saw the photo, I immediately remembered how it looked. It did indeed bring back great memories.
I think it was mentioned earlier, but what was the name of the drive-in that was off Madison Road, but just a short distance from Eastwood Circle? The 1956 aerial view shows it.
One night, several friends and I went down to the corner there to watch some kind of Frankstein movie. You could actually see it from there. It was pretty pointless watching with no sound, but we didn't care - we just wanted to see some of the scary parts. It got pretty boring so we left after about 20 minutes and went back home. LOL!

We moved clear across the country in 1959 and lost touch with everyone I knew. But I know people's lives move on to other things. Unfortunately, I had no idea what was going on in Cincy in the 80's. In fact, I had no idea Stratford Manor had been completely wiped off the face of the Earth until I looked for it on Google Maps a few short years ago.
This thread has been really amazing to see so many people reunited here after so many years and decades have passed by. It's also been a great surprise to hear from posters here who actually knew some of the people I knew. And it's fun to share info and pix of some of places and things I remember, and fun to have made some new friends here. I'm glad you enjoyed the photo of the theater and that it brought back some fond memories for you as it did for me.
