Excellent, thanks

That really sounds like exactly what I'm looking for. Thanks for the info. The people who hired me suggested I look in Mt. Lookout, now that you mention it.

Okay, great. That fits in perfectly with my plans... I'll be taking a 4-day weekend next week to do just that. Having those street names is really helpful.
Thanks again, goyguy.

Right on Linwood Ave there are "always" For Rent signs. Depending on how much of a walker you are and how good the weather is, you might want to stash your wheels in one of the parking lots between Edwards Rd and Michigan Ave in Hyde Park Square and hoof it from there to Mt Lookout Square (a tad over a mile.) I suggest this b/c Linwood twists and turns along its entire length and there's no good place to pull over.
From that jumping-off place, you can also easily amble around Hyde Park. There could well be vacancies in the brick boxes on Observatory right where Linwood starts - construction noise adjacent to Knox Presbyterian Church drove some tenants away, but it's mostly if not completely over and done with. In the other direction from the square, in addition to Edwards and Michigan three nice streets in the vicinity - with lotsa apartments - are Monteith, Shaw, and Griffiths Ave's. After you've worked up a sweat hiking, touring available units, and running up and down stairs, give yourself your first Graeter's (ice cream) experience. I'm a sworn "expatriate" of Cincinnati, but Graeter's is something I'll always miss (and always make a point of visiting on return trips.) One of their parlors is on Erie Ave right in the square.
Not to detract from P-Ridge, Norwood, and Oakley, but my money is on your landing the "perfect" crib in Mt Lookout or Hyde Park. Let us know how you do!

It's tough to plan ahead, being so far away, so I have compiled a list (attached) of commercial apartment complexes that I'm going to check out. On my itinerary, however, could be many apartments in the Mt Lookout/Hyde Park area that don't show up online. So who knows whether my list will get tossed aside.
However, I would really appreciate knowing about it if there's any reason I should NOT live in one of these places (see attachment for map):
Olde Montgomery
7950 Village Dr Cincinnati, OH 45242
Mariemont Townhomes
6707 Murray Ave Cincinnati, OH 45227
Olde Towne in Kenwood
6915 Lynnfield Ct Cincinnati, OH 45243
Indian Creek
5701 Kugler Mill Rd Cincinnati, OH 45236
Deercross
9225 Deercross Pkwy Cincinnati, OH 45236
Amberley House
3501 Section Rd Cincinnati, OH 45237
Privately owned apartments in Mt. Lookout, Hyde Park, and Oakley
Thanks for any help! (again)

My wife and I used to live at Olde Montgomery. It is pretty nice and we never had any problems. Lots of families. The pond out front was always nice. There were a couple swans and lots of ducks that lived there.
My wife lived in Deercross before we moved into Olde Montgomery. Deercross is also nice. She never had any problems and was a little mad that she had to move out (we wanted a bigger apartment).
Both are in good locations. I really liked how close Olde Montgomery was to 275. Deercross has easy access to Ronald Reagan highway which will get you to 71 or 75 really quickly.
I haven't been to Indian Creek but it looks fancy from the outside and isright behind the Kenwood Towne Centre (if you like to go to the mall).

Thank you, WMA. It's especially helpful to hear from someone who has lived there. One thing I'm concerned about with Olde Montgomery is the commute I'll have into Norwood. That seems like it could take 40+ minutes in traffic?

At rush hour it could take a while. I never commuted that direction but I know it gets backed up in the mornings. The good thing about Olde Montgomery is that it is only like 2 minutes to 71 southbound. During non-rush hour times, it takes maybe 15-20 mins to get down to Norwood. Sorry I can't be that helpful...

Goyguy strikes again!
All of the apartment buildings/complexes you listed are in far different areas than Mt Lookout, Hyde Park, et al. They're in suburbia, but each community has its own style. Mariemont and Madeira are cushy and preppy. The Montgomery/Kenwood/Blue Ash area is a hodgepodge of office parks, mall sprawl, and subdivisions of varying ages. Only Madeira, Mariemont, and the neighborhood around Olde Montgomery are pedestrian-friendly for constitutionals and errands.
I didn't know that Section Rd's numbering went that high. That's one area I'd scrutinize in person before ruling it in or out. Amberley Village is one of the most wealthy and sought-after communities in the county, but is bordered on the west by Cincinnati's Roselawn neighborhood. Everybody who's stumbled across other posts by me knows that I hype Roselawn's positives at the drop of a hat and wouldn't hesitate before living on most of its residential streets. All the same, it has to be said that crime is no stranger to that area regardless of the fact that's it's mostly confined to the northwest corner of the neighborhood and along its main drags - one of which is, yes, Section Rd.
It's definitely a good idea to take a drive/walk tour if you still plan on searching for places in Cincinnati neighborhoods or Norwood. A lot of landlords don't bother with advertising, even on Craigslist. There's no reason to, if the white letters spelling "apartment for rent" on the bright red background of a cheap sign from the hardware store fulfill the same function.

Thanks for your help once again. I definitely plan to explore the neighborhoods of Mt Lookout, searching for "Rent" signs.
With only hours remaining before I fly to Cincinnati and choose my next home, I've dropped Olde Towne in Kenwood (nothing available), and Amberley House and Olde Montgomery (both have failed to return my call... three days later) from the list. I added an appointment to look at a place midway between Mt Lookout Square and Hyde Park Square.
Indian Creek sounds great, but maybe more than I want to pay. Mariemont Townehomes sounds like it could be equally nice, for $200 less per month.
All will be revealed, soon enough.
