I understand what you mean, as a transplant its been hard for me to learn what is "In the city" and what is "outside the city". I have a little more familiarity than most - because I lived in Cinci (northside) for 6 months and drove all around, learning a lot of the neighborhoods..
That is all I was trying to say too...I was born and raised in the area and never lived anywhere else and while I am learning about a new area only on line..I get a little "lost" with their local lingo...so I thought about it from that point of view..now I notice how often it happens...anyway...

Hee. Don't you know? According to The Book of Cincinnati, the world ends outside the I-275 belt.

Not to hijack the thread - but the worst thing on the newscasts is when they put up the little county map for thunderstorm/tornado warnings!!

DO YOU KNOW HOW HARD IT IS TO FIND BUTLER/WARREN COUNTY on that little inky-dinky map when it is showing like 20 counties?????

UGH!

My husband and I were both so confused!!

Mich it is easy - they show only the 5 counties that the TV stations serve (metro detroit) and so it is easy to learn which county you care about.

Down here they show 3 states - the borders are nearly invisible (still takes us a long time to pick out the Ohio River and then triangulate out) and the counties are all the same color.

Maybe they could do a different color for each state??

Anyway - being a transplant here definitely takes some getting use to!

I always kinda think of suburbs as being any place around a city that wasn't well-established, or was perhaps considered new, in the 1950s-1960s. I would say unincorporated areas, but that doesn't make sense because there are suburbs within city limits. So this is tricky to answer.

I always liked the Northwestern area of Colerain Township and Hyde Park. Yes, I know those places aren't Symmes or Kenwood, but it's not too bad, especially when it comes to getting a good bang for the buck.

Default Blue Ash, Montgomery

We loved Blue Ash when we lived there. We have moved many times, and it remains our favorite suburb for familes. Mariemont and Indian Hill and Terrace Park are very nice as well. The price tags are a bit higher, and the choices are more limited. All of these suburbs that I've mentioned have excellent schools.
