campgrounds (Waynesville, Wayne, Clarksville: rental, college, camping)

My family and I are traveling 15 hours to go see my sister in law. With gas the way it is we are planning on camping on the way back. We are taking the kids to Kings Island and wanted to know if there are any nice lakes with campgrounds anywhere near. I want one thats nice. We have 3 children and one is a baby so we want a decent place. We would really appreciate anyones help. Thanks

or miami white water forest on mt hope rd, winton is under const you can
camp there... there's also Caesar Creek State Park

Did they close the campground right next to KI? I havent gone there in years so I was just wondering...I know there used to be one with RV set ups and Cabins.

The Kings Island campground is gone, alas.

There also are a few little private campgrounds around Fort Ancient (a couple exits north on I-71); Morgan's is the closest, I believe, and also has a canoe livery if you want to canoe the Little Miami River.

Other state parks near Kings Island to look into are Cowan Lake (937-383-3751) near Clarksville (very nice!), and Stonelick State Park (513-625-7544)
near Pleasant Plain. Both -- as well as Caesar Creek -- are maybe 20 to 25 minutes from Kings Island.
