All pit bull owners are wackos. It's so ridiculous that they claim that an "ANIMAL" can have anything thought or reasoning to the way they act. Some actual compare them to a human CHILD. ROTF! They are NOT human, they don't think, they don't reason. Simple as that. Only one thing needs to set off an animal. Pit Bulls are KILLER dogs, simple as that. It's the same thing as owning a LION which is also an ANIMAL. Of course a lion would kill a pit bull on the spot. ROTF. I wish. Children have died because of pit bull attacks and it is always the OWNER who claims that their dog as never done that before...the same old complaint with all pit bull owners until THEIR dog does the damage. SICKOS! When it attacks another DOG and kills it, pit bull owners always blame the other dog (most dogs smaller than them). You want a pit bull, keep it away from other people so that if it decides to "go crazy" at least it could go crazy on it's owner which is deserving for their stupidity. Keep your sickness to yourselves.

If you mistreat any dog long enough it will become aggressive. Pit bulls are just able to take an inhuman amount of abuse before becoming violent, which makes some people think they are unpredictable. If raised properly, pits/staffs/am bulldogs/ are the most tempermentally sound dogs you will find, on par with other great working dogs like GSDs. They are able to handle stresses that would easily break a lesser dog. While some are dog aggressive, only mistreated and/or defectively bred pits will ever show any human aggression.
My little girl Ninja is a fine little American bulldog, although I suspect she has a fair amount of pit genes. On her walk the other day a neighborhood dog got loose and approached us. I commanded her to 'sit' and she just watched the other dog snarl and bark. Finally the other dog lunged at her and bit her nose. Because I did not give her permission to get up, she did not fight back or even squeak. I was able to chase the other dog away, and we continued our walk. I've owned and trained other breeds, but none of them could have half the self control of Ninja.
All of that being said, I don't support the breeding of pitbulls, as there are far too many of them out there, and they are by far the most abused breed. They simply need to be adopted by responsible people that will spay/neuter them and give them affection instead of chaining them to a fence and teaching them to be aggressive. They are so incredibly eager to please that if they think their owner wants them to be mean, they will do it. If their owner wants them to be sweet, they will do that as well.

Plenty of pits, pit mixes and Staffordshire Terriers on leashes around the Clifton/UC area of Cincinnati. They're just like any other dog and need to be raised right, trained and not left unattended in backyards or tethered to long lines.
I used to live in Hyde Park (city burb in Cincinnati) and had several improperly socialized Jack Russell Terriers, Golden Retrievers and Black Labs chase me along the line of their electric fence while I jogged by, teeth bared and ready to take a chunk out of my legs. One Golden broke through the electric fence and I had to really run for it. Thankfully, he/she was an older dog so I was able to escape.
While pit bulls and bulldog mixes are more often used for fighting, they're certainly not the only dogs that need to be properly socialized, always leashed and never left out in their yards - even if there is a short fence or electric fence.
And a tall fence may not work either ~ I've seen a hound/boxer mix jump to the top of a 10-foot fence, hang from the edge, and decide to stay in her yard and run away later. ;-)
Do some education before you open you mouth or computer...
1. American Staffordshire Bull Terriers ARE considered to be a pit bull breed, as are American Bull Dogs, and Staffordshire Bull Terriers.
2. This animals used to be used as a "nanny" dog, that's right, for child care, & as a farm dog during the early 1900's. The pit bull was used as a mascot for the U.S. Armed Forces, Petey on Our Gang was a pit bull, and Buster Brown's dog was a pit bull.
3. Pit bulls are strong dogs. And you can make them mean. But you can do that with any dog. My son was bitten by a black lab that roamed our neighborhood. This same black lab killed another dog while its owner was walking it on a lease. You don't see anybody rushing out to ban black labs.
4. It's people like Michael Vick who give pit bulls a bad name. But these dogs were forced to fight for their lives. Read up on what happened to some of Vick's dogs which were rescued. They are now family pets and some are in homes with children. These dogs are not born mean. PEOPLE mistreat them and make them become mean to survive. DON'T BLAME THE DOG FOR THE EVIL PERSON. HOW ABOUT WE BAN MICHAEL VICK.
5. I have owned several pit bulls and found them to be sweet, loving animals. They are very tolerant with children. Don't be a dog racist without your facts!
I can agree with your comment of a dog racist. I can also agree the majority of dog breeds can be raised as pets, good with children, etc.
Years ago, I had a female dog, a Japanese Akita, which was large and I thought very docile. At the same time, we had a older mixed female blue merle collie and german shephard (result of the 1975 blizzard) who ruled the roost. One day I invited a compatriot from our Japanese parent company to my house. After he arrived the weather had turned rather nasty.Due to the weather, I let the Akita in from outside. Once she came into the family room, my Japanese co-worker was standing on the back of my coach. By this time he was about as white as me. He stammered that is Akita, they are vicious! I responded what? she cannot even stand up to the collie/shepard mix. Finally I calmed him down off the back of my coach.
I can only say if a specific breed is singled out there has to be a reason. The dog may not be to blame, only the people who own them. But, for whatever reason, if the stature, appearance, etc. of the dog is consistent with the treatment they are subjected to, the breed will be blamed. Stop and think of what breed means.
i watch pit boss when it's on.. watch an episode then you'll change your tune
