Odds are better than 10:1 you saw the Goyguy Sr's there. LOL!!! Over three decades it's only grown in their estimation - that, and also the fact that so many other places have gone under. Plus it's their favorite restaurant to take the grandsons to (who rank it on par with Chipotle. There can be little higher praise.)

Funny how no one mentions anywhere in The Banks as being a favorite eating spot. Then again, the thread title does include "non-chain." Other than the perpetually struggling Mahogany's and a microbrewery or two I think every other place is replicated in many a city.

Has anybody here on "Cincy-Data" blown off a mortgage payment or postponed settling a water bill to visit the latest edition of Boca?

No, but I am taking MrsM to Jeff Ruby's for a significant birthday, and her retirement, along with my Mother-in-law, son, daughter-in-law and grandson. I'm sure that the tip will be more than my most expensive meal in the past

I'd go to Boca instead. The last time I was in Ruby's, my strip was a twisted end piece with a big piece of gristle running down the middle. I has being treated by a client and didn't want to offend him so I cut around it and kept it to myself, but took the place off my list. I do like the Precinct.

I have never had a bad meal at any of the Ruby restaurants. The Precinct isn't my favorite Ruby place, not because of the food. I just don't enjoy sitting elbow to elbow with some stranger at the next table.

I love Carlo and Johnnys. I Love Jeff Ruby on Walnut. I even really liked Bootsy's while it lasted. (I think that it was too "New York" for Cincinnati and Cincinnatians just cant wrap their heads around Tapas!)

I haven't been to Boca but my wife loved Sotto. She was a bit uneasy at the door though

I have really enjoyed my meals at Sotto and Boca (all 3 locations) but my favorite upscale Italian is still Nicola's. I love the food & the warmth of the servers/staff. It's never snobby. I'm happy to hear they are opening another restaurant in Montgomery soon.

Nicola's owner plans Montgomery restaurant

Agree. I work right across the street from Nicola's and wish they would open for lunch again.
