Did you know the 'net shorthand for that? ROTFLMAOASTC = Rolling On The Floor Laughing My Azz Off And Scaring The Cat! It's real, I kid you not.

I remember Rinks and I remember Zayers. Also wasn't there a "Cash Amburgee" or something like that? I think he used to sell cars live during some of the Saturday movie matinees on WXIX. I believe that was on just before the Outer Limits would come on. ".....do not try to adjust your television, the problem is not in your set...." Frightened the "bigeebees" out of me!

I looked at it just to look at Glenn Ryle and hear his deep voice.
The Outer Limits, now that bring back memories-but the one that gave me the creeps was the one no one has responded to-Journey to the Unknown. How about sitting around watching Dark Shadows in the evening with the lights off .
When cable first came on you could see the reruns of Outer Limits and Dark Shadows, but now they do not exist on cable. I still try to catch the "Twilight Zone" marathons, but I have not caught one yet this year. They used to show them during the summer holidays.

You guys are great!
Doc Rusk - yes.
Rinks and Zayres - yes.
Scherzinger Pest Control still advertises - serving families like yours since 1941. This is a great trip down memory lane.

That Zayres located there in Roselawn or Bond hill was one of my favorite places to go. I loved the toy isle and also loved to get a deli sandwich from snack bar area.

Clarabell the Clown was on Howdy Doody and was played by Bob Keeshan who also played Captain Kangaroo.
I was also thinking there was a clown on Skipper's show but I can't remember the name.
I loved watching all those shows!

Well put, LOL...The "Swifton Zayre's" was on Seymour along the north (Roselawn) side west of Reading Rd. The odd-numbered (south) side of Seymour is in Bond Hill. Before both neighborhoods "changed," there was always a classist bias in favor of Roselawn. That caused people living in the still-standing and still barracks-like Glenmeadow Lane apartment houses to always say they dwelled in Roselawn. The fact that Roselawn was once "97% Jewish and 3% assimilated" while Bond Hill was much more ecumenical may have played a part as well. ("Feh on Bond Hill, many Jews but too many goyim!")
Zayre's also had an identical-looking store opposite Tri-County on Princeton Pike. During our childhood stages of being easily impressed, my sisters and I used to be agog over how the man-tall letters on their rooftops used to light up after dark: "Z...A...Y...R...E...ZAYRE...ZAYRE...Z...A...Y...R ...E..."
They did have the "best" toy aisles.
"Compare...you can't do better than Zayre!"
"I got it! I got it at Zayre!"
Those unmemorable, yet still remembered, ad slogans were on the radio. I draw a complete blank when trying to remember anything on TV. Where discount department stores are concerned, it's all a fog of "Rink-a dink-a dink-a doo."
