My boyfriend is starting law school at UC in about a month and we're desperately trying to find a decent place to live. We're originally from Columbus and were in town today and found an amazing 1 BR apartment in the Clermont buidling on the corner of E Mcmillan and Salutaris sort of. Is this a safe area? My boyfriend's mother grew up in Cinci and remembers that area being sketchy but I was there and thought it was totally fine. I LOVED the apartment but wouldnt' want to be in an "unsafe" neighborhood...ie I don't want my car broken into or mugged.

Also, we are thinking about buying a condo as well but are trying to stay under a price of 125k. Is that even possible anywhere in Clifton/Hyde Park/Mt Lookout? We found condos in Kenwood but that's a little too far from UC.

Thanks in advance for your help!!

Default The Clermont

Congrats on the move from Columbus. I made a similar move several years ago. What area of Columbus are you coming from? In my opinion, the area where the Clermont is safe.

As far as condos go, you may have a difficult time finding condos in those areas within that price range. Feel free to DM me if you want more information.

Good luck on the move. You'll enjoy Cincinnati!

Thanks! We're moving from Grandview, which borders Upper Arlington and Dowtown. We were so surprised by the prices in Hyde Park! Grandview isn't maybe as exclusive but it's a very favorable part of town and the prices for rent are about half of what Hyde Park's are.

Your best bet for a condo under 125k is in the Gateway Quarter in OTR. There are some awesome places down there. If your boyfriend is going to law school there are free busses that run from Downtown/OTR to UC every ten minutes or so. Since he will be working summers downtown, he can just walk and not have to pay parking. Go with the Gateway quarter
