As much as it pains me to say this for I resent Mike Brown and the manner in which he operates the franchise not to mention has handed the shaft to Hamilton County... Congratulations playoff-bound Bengals. They knocked off the dreaded Pittsburgh Steelers and eliminated the postseason hopes of their division rival to secure at least a wildcard berth in the NFL playoffs.

Bengals go back-to-back

For all you basketball fans, take note UC head coach Mick Cronin has the Bearcats back in the national conversation with a No. 11 ranking (surely to rise when the next polls are released) and the Bearcats, one of only four remaining undefeated teams, take on No. 16 New Mexico on Thursday the 27th at 9PM. If your families are still in town for the holidays this is sure to be a great way to treat the fam to an exciting college sports atmosphere as the Bearcats take on more top-level competition. Many fans griped about last year's non-conference schedule but with Oregon, Alabama, perennial Xavier, and New Mexico opponents this year the non-conference schedule is becoming more ambitious.

Ahh beating the Steelers in Pittsburgh to earn a playoff spot, how sweet it is. Hope Bengals can win at least one playoff game.

Way to go Bengals ... I was out of town over Christmas but I made sure to head to a pub to watch that game. What a great Christmas present - a Bengals win to advance to the playoffs and eliminate the Steelers!

Who Dey!

Headed to Cincinnati from Baltimore for this weekend's game (Go Ravens!). Any downtown bars worth visiting?

Madonna's on 7th Street, in between Vine and Walnut is a must. Hopefully, you go there when Scotty is on shift. Prob. my favorite bar keep. Welcome to Cincinnati!

Also, you can work your way up Vine Street to a strip of restaraunts and bars that stretch up until around 15th streets. After that the neighborhood starts to take a dive, and I wouldn't recommend you wander around there at night not being from here.

Head over to Main Street as well. Lot of cool spots over there. Japp's for affordable mixology. MOTR Pub for live alternative, Mr. Pitifuls for a good RnB spot.

If heading up into Over the Rhine is not really what you are after, then do check Madonnas, and also Rockbottom Brewery on Fountain Square. Oh --- also hit The Banks. Moerlein Lager House, Johnny Rockets, etc.

You have a lot of options.

Congrats to the UC Bearcats football team winners of this year's Belk Bowl over the Duke Blue Devils 48 to 34.

With this win the Bearcats are in elite company with their fourth 10-win season in five years. Only Oregon, Alabama, and Virginia Tech can claim this distinction along with the Bearcats. In the last six season the Bearcats have five 10-win seasons with only are Oregon, Alabama, VaTech and Oklahoma being able to make this claim alongside UC.

Perhaps someday the residents of Cincinnati will wake up to the reality they have a good NCAA division 1 football program right downtown and will go and support them by filling Nippert Stadium on Saturdays.
