Dear Cincinnatus,

Thank you for your lovely invitation. I am pleased that Cincinnati is proving to be an exciting city for you and am plased that you are exploring it and learning about it.

It is a global irony that people throughout the world know their hometowns less than tourists and newcomers do. You are right that there is so much to see in Cincinnati, with interesting architecture and statues. Most people are too busy living (going to work, getting the kids to school) to still make an effort to get out to see their city.

I would love to join you, but I live overseas (and am visiting other people's hometowns and seeing them with fresh eyes).

You will meet a lot of interesting people as you scout about for good shots and enjoy the city. Keep being open to people and engaging them in interesting questions about their city and making them smile. You'll have a great time and will make lots of friends!

Best regards,

For best pictures of downtown skyline, go to Devoe (sp) park in northern KY. It has nice overlook of downtown. We have great parks here, my favorite because its nearest to me, is Ault. But Eden is also beautiful!

Default Cincinnati Parks

There are so many wonderful parks, many little known. Fleischmann Gardens in Avondale, Burnet Woods, Bellview Park, Mt. Storm Park, Piatt Park on Eighth Street, Eden Park, Ault Park, Alms Park, Fairview Park, and more. Contact the the Parks Department for a list and location, then get out there to see all the wonderful places to spend a few hours. I love the parks. Many years ago I would go dancing at the Pavilion in Ault Park and what a great time that was! My heart was broken on the bridge in Eden Park when the love of my life broke the news that he was marrying someone else. I would swing until the world was upside down in Alms Park. You Cincinnatians are so lucky to have the wealth of open space.
