Does anyone know if there are any organizations that are still accepting referrals for help for the holidays? It seems most places I have contacted closed their help registries the end of Oct..

My son is a purple heart recipient who was given a medical retirement with a 60% disability rating last month. He is having a really hard time financially on top of all his medical problems. I am afraid that he is neglecting his health worrying about money and Christmas for the two girls! I am hoping that there is help out there for him. We do what we can for him but are on a limited income ourselves.

I would think the yellow ribbon center, Matthew 27 and many local churches would try to help. I would also talk to the childrens local school. Schools are wonderful supporters of their families and if they cant help, they will work their hardest to help. What part of the area are you from and I (and I am sure others) will try to come up with more concrete suggestions.

Default Svdp

Most Catholic churches have a St. Vincent de Paul Society that doesn't care what faith you may be. You would need to contact the church that is closest to your son's permanent residence. There is a city wide SVDP program that is called "Gift of the Magi" that the children may qualify for run from the Bank Street Cincinnati location.
