The kids are grown and out of the house...and we're ready to leave suburbia behind. We've been looking for a more interesting urban area in or around Cincinnati. Here are some things of interest to us:

Town center we can walk to
Flats or condos with some architectural character (Not adverse to fixer-upper)
Energized diverse community that needs volunteering/involvement
Parks nearby to walk the dog in
Some (not all) like minded friends in 40's or 50's
Not going to cost us half-a-million to enter!
Downtown access by public transport

Can any of you provide insights on particular areas that might fit the bill? Some areas that seem interesting include:

Clifton
OTR
Mount Lookout
Mt Adams (too pricey?)
Oakley

Also would welcome any links that might provide insights.
Thanks!

Bellevue, Ky has a large population of 40-50 yr empty-nesters. I in fact know people in your same situation that moved there for that reason. Turn right off of Fairfield onto Lafyette and drive around and look at some of those houses. The streets are really narrow and there are some very interesting houses. Alot of the houses have great view of Downtown Cincinnati.

Great idea, Flourescent! I know a couple people who grew up in that area. We'll take a look. Shouldn't let the mind be constrained by a little water ;-)

What about Downtown or the East End along the river?
