Ok, I'm here to support Norwood. I think Norwood is a great place for a young, college educated couple to live. My husband and I are in our mid 20's and we just bought a house in Norwood for about the same amount of money you are looking to spend. It's a great old house with charm but modern amenities. It's has 5 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Norwood is close to Rookwood Commons (from our house, it's a 1 minute drive) and you can find a whole foods, tons of restaurants and shopping there - it's great. I would definitely look into Norwood - there is a young professional association and lots to get involved with. More and more young people are moving to the neighborhood and I think it's a great place to live!

Not sure how Norwood is but in the past didn't like it. Forest Park I wouldn't stay there it's turning into a Lincoln Heights (alot of rental property now) and section 8. (NOT SAYING ANYTHING NEG ABOUT RENTAL AND SECTION 8...but unfortunately there are those who rent may not care as much for the property. With your gf being a black Dominican I think she is going to be excepted and people will love her accent if she has one. Good Luck

I am a college educated female and just recently moved to Pleasant Ridge from Norwood....only because I could not find a house that I could afford and liked in Norwood.

I am white, and my fiance is black. I wasn't familiar with Norwood when I moved there and people warned me that Norwood was just a bunch of white rednecks. I totally disagree. Sure, one side of Norwood fits that description, but the other side (near Oakley, Hyde Park and such) are young professional couples.

People warned me that "Norwood folk" would not like to see a black man walking around my neighborhood...but I NEVER had that problem, nor did we ever feel out of place or threatened in Norwood.

Don't take Norwood off the list, there are beautiful, charming, big old homes in that neighborhood that deserve a look!
