I remember watching his show when I was a kid. Sad to hear he's passed away.

Default I hadn't heard til I read this post just now...

There were five kids in my family and every one of us was on that show once over the years. Only two of the five were old enough at the time they were on it to actually participate and talk about it later. I was just 3 yrs old or so when I went, so I don't remember much about the experience except the B&W group photo we got to show we were there.

I often think of Al, Wendy, Hattie the Witch, and the crew. They are burned into my childhood neurons. Al has been frequently discussed on this site (and sometimes not in the best of terms) but for me he represents that generous, corny and overprotective voice that allowed all my childhood to seem like an idyllic TV show.

Hattie the Witch was one of Larry Smith's puppets. They were on Ch. 19, WXIX, in the afternoon.

Uncle Al was on Ch. 9 WCPO, in the morning.

You may have known this, and just listed them all together, but I wanted to clear up any confusion.

And FYI ~ WCPO is replaying a tribute to Uncle Al from 1989, tomorrow, Fri., March 6th at 12:30 pm.

The Uncle Al Show right? I watched him growing up. Do you have any ideas how I can get info on a 1977-79 Theft from Cincinnati Art Museum. The Treasurer of Art Museum cleaned out the museums account and took off? Another crime that could be related happened days before.

RIP Uncle Al.

I know that Larry Smith had a Battie Hattie puppet but I could have sworn that there was a Battie Hattie from Cincinnati on Uncle Als show also.
