Good call on Lockland; also, the Lockland school district is small, but very good.
(I know the HS principal ... )

franklin or middletown?
I grew up in Franklin, OH in the late 1960's through the 1970's. It was a corrupt little swill hole then. How many remember the bar named "Shine's Whiskey Cafe" across from the Bapist Church at 2nd & Main in downtown? We came out of church one Sunday when I was about 7 yrs old and a drunk stuck his head out the door, threw up, then retreated back into the bar.
I've seen the Great Miami River, which runs through downtown Franklin, every color in the rainbow from chemicals being dumped (illegally) into the Great Miami River. It is still not safe to eat fish from the river, 35 years later.
Why do you think Pete Rose's bookie had his gambling den in Franklin? Duh, all the cops were on the payroll! When the FBI raided "Johnathon's" they didn't tell the local PD.
Education: as of my graudation in the early 1980's less than 10% of the high school graduating class went to college.
Finally, if I want to see what's going on with people I graduated with I merely have to pick up a current issue of "The Franklin Chronicle" and check the courts section. There's always someone in there I know or went to school with.
Move to Franklin, OH? I spent my entire youth trying to get the hell out of there.
Now that I'm gone I don't miss it at all. When I visit my parents there they complain about the corrupt local gov't and the wave of drugs, mainly crack, that is ruining the youth.
Take it from someone who's been there & done that. Don't move to Franklin, OH unless you want to watch your kids go down the toilet...

I would agree with this comment. Where will you be working? Do you need to be concerned with schools in the area?

Good area with great schools near Sharonville would be West Chester. It is a growing area and my sister lives there with three handicapped children that the whole community has embrassed and the area is clean. I know their income isn't high, so look into this area, too. I grew up in Middletown and Franklin, Middletown is depressed and Franklin is trying to improve, however they BOTH have been failing levys for the schools and threatening to take away sports.... Southern Butler county (like West Chester) sounds like a better choice.

seven months later; Middletown is having a crisis with the school system. Voter refuse to be taken to the cleaners and as a result, the school system is making all sports a pay to play. I guess that the overloaded administration is safe!
The postal system is overloaded, two zip codes when they really need 4 or 5.
On the positive side, they are building a new hospital, but as a customer of the old one, the only way that I'd ever consider returning is if I am unconscience.
If you like higher taxes and costly schools, then Middletown is the place to go.

I would concur, southern Butler county, West Chester, Liberty Township, the school system is very very good. Also, Mason has a fine school system too, however. their politics make for a good comedy act!

Try Hamilton or Monroe
Westchester is kind of pricey, sharonville is better, Mason is also kind of high. I'm just relocating myself and working in WestChester. Monroe has some reasonable new construction and a new school system. Its just north of Liberty Twp/WestChester (both expensive) but more reasonable. Hamilton is its own city, about 15 miles West. Its a straight shot on highway 129. Its depressed in the East area, but West Hamilton is quite lovely. Its also a larger town (population of about 75,000) with the best URBAN district in Ohio. Beware though, locals call it Hamil-tucky. But a lot of new transfers to the area (from out of state) are looking there, so that may change with time.
Good luck!
