i might be moving to cincinnati to go to school at university of cincinnati..i've been to the city before. i'm originally from DC so i can tolerate a "sketch" area. but my question is where should i move. i won't have a job when i get there so a place that is affordable. i won't have to worry about coming home late walking and is close to the university...i'm not sure how cost of living is but something that is reasonble for a college student. thanks

Here, this company owns a boatload of rentals in the CUF area, mostly in Clifton Heights. He is a really good landlord and has reasonable prices.

UNIQUE CAMPUS RENTALS

I think that Bishop is a good spot. And, to a lesser extent, Nixon and Jefferson. No one over there advertises, even on craigslist. You have to walk down the street and call them on your cell phone.

The CUF area is spot on. Clifton Heights specifically, as it is just South of the University and has a great deal to offer. I live on Ohio and am a student at U.C. They have a nightwalk shuttle that will pick you up and take you anywhere within two miles of campus. Runs from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. most nights. I'd recommend keeping your wits about you, as people come from throughout the city to rob people here. The assume we must be drunk and stupid as we attend college. I have never had a problem, but then again I don't scream, "Hey, I'm white and from the burbs and have never been in the city before". A lot of it has to do with how you carry yourself. Keep aware of your surroundings and act like you have a purpose and you'll have no problems.

Great post. I am not in college, but live in Clifton Heights with my family. Point is I am living my recommendation and the company I recommended to you owns the homes on either side of mine. I have heard nothing but good things from my neighbors. I have gotten to know the company owner a little and he really cares about his tenants and the neighborhood, so he is not a slum lord.

Best of luck.
