Wow, I always thought the chili you get in the restaurants was runnier than the stuff in the can. Maybe it was just the water from the spaghetti.

And goetta rules! Love the stuff.

The first time I saw someone spread grape jelly over goetta, I thought I was going to die.

That sounds really gross.

Goetta is a love it or hate it kinda thing, but I don't see grape jelly complementing it very well. I once put it in a sandwich with a small bit of ketchup and that was pretty good, though.

I've done that...made a sandwich using toast and ketchup. Probably the weirdest thing I've even done with goetta was to crumble it up in some buttered spaghetti.

I love it: "Lets take an already disgusting food item and make it even worse with ketchup/grape jelly/etc..."

J/K. You do what you want with it, I personally can't stand the stuff.

There are some pretty disgusting things in various Goetta recipes, mostly meats that humans should not eat, but it doesn't need to be that way.

If you make a few cups of cooked pinhead oats (put onion and garlic in the water), cool and mix with a pound each of ground chuck, ground pork shoulder and ground veal, needing thouroughly, a bunch of chopped onions and some green herbs, like Thyme, some sea salt, and lots of ground black pepper, you will have a real nice mix. Roll it with wax paper, slice it a half inch thick and freeze until use. Fry it until brown and you're good to go. No pork snouts or turkey hearts need apply.

I never heard of Goetta and couldn't figure out what you were talking about, so I put Google to work for me. I found that apparently Goetta is very similar to Prettles that we have here in NW Ohio. We had it many times when I was growing up, although I haven't had any for years.
