I got a days inn in Ft. Wright. It is 3 miles from downtown next to devue park. It was cheap, and I am not a person who needs a classy expensive hotel to sleep for 8 hours. I am happy that I am that close to downtown for that price. I just wish I was in walking distance, but it beats a 25 mile drive.

I agree with you both about Jungle Jim's. I was actually going to mention that myself, but I wasn't sure if that's something the OP would have time to fit in. It would be a great place to visit, though.

For photos of the city, go to Devou Park in Covington (but they close at around 10 pm and do ticket people for being there later), Mt. Adams - Ida St. (among other places there), go to the top of the Carew Tower, Bellevue Hill Park in Over The Rhine (during the day)...

For a place to stay (and maybe a guide) go to CouchSurfing - Participate in Creating a Better World, One Couch At A Time and find a place to stay for free...
