Looking for a good mechanic that has experience with BMW's or other European cars. I know dealerships will do the work for a high price. I am looking for a smaller independent shop that does reputable work for a more reasonable rate.

Well, I'm not absolutely sure if they work on BMWs or not, but you could check out Eric's Auto Service on Millville Avenue in Hamilton. I know Eric and his head mechanic, Chris. I swear by them. They've never done me wrong, and have ALWAYS done great work for me...fixed my car properly and they are very fair. Good guys. They don't jack people around, and really care about their work. I could give them a call if you want, and ask if they service your particular car. Let me know.

I was recently in the same position and found Bavarian Motors on Reading. They performed an inspection II for a reasonable price and I was very satisfied.

Hi BMW car owners. I am in the process of buying an used BMW X3 (SUV) and I am afraid of the maintenance costs for this car. I am looking for a 30,000 to 100,000 kms. car. I would appreciate if you give your thoughts/experiences. Thanks,

Maria

I used to have a couple of BMW's. But the ownership costs were just ridiculous. One time I went to the BMW Store on Stewart Rd. with a 5 series and the estimate for service, absolutely nothing broken, was over $1000. When I didn't get the service, they gave me a bill for about $100 for the estimate. That was the end.

Call Greg at European Auto Store. (513) 377-8061. He's been working on my '97 528i for about 5 years. Also works on my Porsche 944. He's extremely reasonable, which is why I stay with him. Won't fix stuff that doesn't need fixing. Won't rip you off like dealers. He used to be a mechanic at BMW store for many years and knows his stuff. He'll also find you used parts so you don't get dinged on that. Tell em Steve sent ya. I'd avoid Bavarian. They'll recommend all kinds of stuff you don't need done.

Hi, thanks for reviving this thread! We are moving to Batavia in a few weeks with two older BMWs and will need a reasonably priced, local mechanic.

What about the local BMW dealerships? I am sure they are ridiculously priced though.
