What are the Best neighborhoods / Counties in N. KY?
[SIZE=2]We are relocating to the Cincy area soon. My husband works in Downtown Cincy and we have decided we want to live in N. KY. Our kids are grown so the school system is not that important, but we want to live a safe , suburban area that has pretty decent home market and not in the flight paths of the Hebron airport traffic . Can you give us some local insights as to what the best cities or counties are to buy a home in?

I believe it would be better to post this in the Kentucky forum. There is one post there titled "I want to live in Kentucky" that mentions some of what you are looking for. It is an old post but there are current replies. Better yet - just post your own message. Hope this helps you to get more replies. Good luck in your search.

Define "flight paths". I imagine you're talking about the planes being close enough that you can count the rivets and require the use of earplugs to drown out the roar from the engines. In which case, you'll probably want to avoid Burlington, Florence, Hebron, and probably Union to a lesser degree.
If you're wanting newer construction, look at Independence or Alexandria. If you prefer older stock, check out Fort Thomas. You could also look at Villa Hills for newer construction, though it's a bit closer to the airport. But it's not in the direct flight paths.

As a pilot formerly based in Cinci I'd say Florence is definitely gonna get some airplane traffic overhead. Especially the Oakbrook community off of 18. I lived there for 3 years. Also Burlington/Hebron area is right in line with departures.
But to be honest with you, Delta has seen such a cutback in flights that I wouldn't think the noise would be as frequent. Also, there are alot less evening (9-12pm) flights than there used to be. As far as morning flights, most of the inbound traffic will be getting in around 7am.
Your best best is to look googlemaps and draw a straight line from the North/South runways through Florence. That is specifically the area where the traffic will come directly overhead.
The noise really was not that bad for us. It never kept us awake, or ever woke us up.

Moving to KY
Thanks for the info. Can you tell me if the Union area- Hampshire, Hempstead neighborhoods will get much airplane noise or air traffic?
We are also considering a new home in the Erlanger/ Independence area, but some local folks my husband works with have told him that is not a great area. We want a safe area, wooded lots, convenient to downtown. Schools are not a factor in our decision. Any info is greatly appreciated. We really want to make the right choice.

I will say this....Erlanger is practically right next door to the airport...only about 3 miles away. The homes are older there...probably a lot of 1930s-1960s stock.
But Independence not a good area?? What kind of grass is that person smoking? LOL! The area is fine. It's very suburban, with most homes built since the 1980s. Not very walkable with respect to going to parks or shopping, etc. But it's safe. Don't let people tell you it's a bad area. I can't fathom why they'd say that.
As for Union's Hampshire and Hempstead neighborhoods, it's about 7~ miles due south of the airport. So I don't know if the planes start to bank away before getting to that area or not. At that distance, however, I doubt you'd have much issue with noise.

Erlanger probably wouldn't be all that bad as far as noise from planes...It is fairly close to the airport but for the most part not in line with any of the departure or arrival corridors...
I agree it is a bit older as far as homes go. Dixie Highway is pretty congested also. And if I remember right, it is the main road that passes through Erlanger.

From your name, I get the idea that softball may be in the mix. One really fun softball park is Northern Kentucky Sports complex located at Mason and Taylor Mill Roads just off the I-275 Taylor Mill exit. And, nearby Edgewood Ky, is perfect for you.
