Default Moving to Cincinnati - Oakley area

I will be moving to the cincinnati area soon, and after looking at some things, it seems to me that the oakley area fits my needs (safety, decent value) and price range (under $500 for a 1br) best.

based on what ive found available, i think ive got it narrowed down to an apartment on allendale dr or the romaine court apartment complex. both are in about the same area, and i was just interested in getting any opinions from anyone who knows the area. thanks for whatever help you can give.

Don't do Romaine Court. I used to live there, and....well, don't do Romaine Court. The kitchens are beyond tiny, and I could never understand why they had sliding glass doors that went to basically nowhere....just a railing over the opening. I could hear my neighbors downstairs all the time, and the windows leaked.

Actually, I lived on Allendale, too. It wasn't good. My basement apartment didn't have a bathtub...just a small cinder block shower (no, I'm not joking) and the bathroom didn't even have a sink. I had to use the one in the kitchen. And the kitchen walls were covered in mold. Hopefully those fourplexes have been fixed up by now. Parking on the street is also a major pain.

If you look at a map, follow a line that runs along Markbreit Avenue heading east, jumps north along Madison to Ballard and then runs southeast again to Paxton. Try to stay south of that line.

I also have personal experience with Allendale and I concur with aquila . . . I'd avoid at all costs . . .

Oakley is a fine choice for you, but stay in the areas aquila recommends . . . IMHO . . . .
