Check out Mariemont and Terrace Park - they are just what you described. I don't think you'd be disappointed in either location. Best wishes!

Hyde Park is very walkable, with old, beautiful houses. With the current market, the prices are very affordable (I know - I'm currently trying to sell my house there at a very big loss). Cincinnati Public Schools are tricky, but the neighborhood elementary school, Kilgour, is very well reputed, as is Walnut Hills (as mentioned by a previous poster), and the Montessori magnet. The drive to CVG better than any of the other mentioned suburbs. I would not even consider Blue Ash/Mason/Montgomery if I were driving to the airport. Anderson is "nice" but not walkable.

My dh drove that route daily from montgomery, it takes 45 minutes, unless of course it rains or other inclement weather.

Allen40,
I wanted to introduce myself. I am a Realtor with RE/MAX in the Northern Kentucky area. I would be happy to assist you with some options in Kentucky if you are still considering this side of the river. Let me know if I can be of service to you at this time. Thanks and good luck!

I would recommend Mariemont - it sounds like exactly what you're looking for. It's about 30 minutes to the airport, it has many lovely older homes in your price range, and you can easily walk to the Starbucks, Graeter's ice cream, the restaurants or the art movie theatre on the square. It is very walkable, yet close to the interstate.
Another option is Madeira, which is close to Mariemont. It also has lots of shops within walking distance and more of a "village" atmostphere, and is about 30+ minutes from the airport.
Both of them have excellent public schools.
