Summer Math Camp 2009 – “Success Through Math!”
Would you like to see improvement in your child’s analytical abilities? How about rapidly improving your child’s standardized test scores, increasing his/her chance of getting into a good college?
This summer an intensive math course will be offered on PSAT/SAT/ACT Math and Counting Probability. This course serves mainly to boost test scores and math abilities quickly. It consists of a total of 12 evening classes (Monday, Wednesday, Friday) spanning a period of 4 weeks.
I. Detailed Description of Course
A. The main part (~80%) will cover representative problems found on the math portion of standardized tests, involving about 35-40 categories. This will establish a comprehensive set of fundamental math skills based on standardized testing requirements. Students will be doing a massive number of PSAT/SAT/ACT practice problems.
B. The remainder (20%) of the course will cover key ideas around combinations and permutations with integrated counting problems, leading to Basic Probability Theory. Most high schools do not provide enough coverage on this topic, which is evidenced by nationwide statistics where a majority of students perform poorly in probability-related problems on the standardized tests. This portion of the course will give your child an additional boost, making your child outstand among his/her peers.
