If you are new to the US, you will want some help understanding how leases work, and what the pros and cons are for rentals. UC should be able to help you. Get in touch with the office that deals with foreign students and/or housing, and learn what you cna about them.
Be advised that you may not be able to get out of your rental contract as easily as you'd like, if you find that you don't like where you're living (and there are some areas which you might not like). You might also want to look in to sharing a place with another foreign student. The Indian community (assuming, based on your name) does exist, and you might be most confortable sharing space with people who've also had to learn the ropes, and can explain them to you. Again, UC may/should be able to help you connect with other students from your country, who can at least explain how things work (even if you don't live with them).
With regards to airfare, note that Delta Airlines has an international hub in Cincinnati. I fly Delta because it has good connections to some international hubs. Travelocity (
Travelocity Travel: Cheap Airfare, Hotels, Flights, Vacations, Cruises & Car Rentals) can show you comparative routings, travel times, and hub locations. Some airports are easier to navigate upon entry than others (and CVG, Cincinnati's airport code) is a nice customs clearance point. New York (JFK and Newark) are less desirable, although airfares through those hubs may be cheaper.
Welcome to Cincinnati!
