I drive Columbia Parkway rush hour every day. In the evening when I go down Reading Road to Eggelston Ave. and under 471 to CP traffic is almost always stopped on 471 south, inching along, and I can see the same all across the bridge. Every night. The morning traffic report says the 471 hill is a delay most mornings. But the pernicious part of the trip is 275, which, when when stopped will remind the OP of the 405.

Yes, this is the way to go. Unless there is an accident, you will make good time.

Driving 471 in the a.m. into town is all about timing. If you hit it right...a few minutes to 7 or earlier, it's not bad at all. After that, forget it. And let's not forget that 95% of Cincinnati drivers don't know how to drive. That doesn't help.

Why the dislike for 275?

Both ways are perfectly fine to get to any part around Milford. The OP will now know a couple of routes to and from work and be able to try them both out and decide which they like better, if not both, and learn a little about their new city in the process.

Well, driving about the city is a good idea to learn about things, I'll agree. But, the discussion evolved into the best route.

So, I-275 is 10 miles longer, each way (about 60% more commuting miles every day), and on a really good day, with perfect timing at the 471 bridge, takes about the same amount of time as Columbia Parkway. On a bad day, it can be a problem. The I-275 stretch I complained about above was closed for two hours today from an accident (see front page of Enquirer). Good thing it was Sunday and only Sunday drivers and vacationers sat on the highway for two hours.

I guess that would be the reason.

Default Thanks

Thanks for all the great replies. My 4th of July weekend kept me away from the internet so I couldn't reply earlier.
Where I live now, a half hour commute can turn into over an hour during peak traffic times. As this doesn't seem to be the case, I will keep looking for rentals in downtown.
As far the location, the company hasn't supplied me with the exact address yet but I think there is a factory nearby. If there is an industrial section of Milford, that is most likely where I will be working.

You know, Paco, we just kind of accepted the downtown living thing because you said it. But the corridor between downtown and Milford has the best housing and neighborhoods in Cincinnati. Milford itself is quite charming and affordable. Mariemont is 10 minutes and is really nice too. Mt. Lookout (where I live) is next along the route and it is hip, fun, and safe. Maybe you should consider the alternatives.

Milford is a pretty nice suburb, but the areas out around I-275 are getting really congested these days. Mariemont and Terrace Park used to be sort of snobbish and stuffy, and Mariemont used to be filled with a doddering retirees and blue-haired old ladies. But I think that demographic is changing a bit. Anderson Township is 15 minutes south, it is a much nicer environment than Milford. More trees, topography, etc.
