Renting in Cincinnati with Young Children (rent, neighborhoods, school)

A move to Cincinnati may be on the horizon for my family, so I'm trying to get the lay of the land and investigate neighborhoods that might work for us. We'd be renting at first, but would ideally rent in a neighborhood in which we'd eventually look to purchase. For better or worse, we're looking for a neighborhood that would welcome non-religious, liberal types who have a kid in tow (so, school system would be important). Bonus points for walkability and charm. Any thoughts are much appreciated!
