Downtown Cincinnati Nightlife
Looking for something to do in downtown cincinnati. Is it a nice place to spend an evening, walking, dining, etc. Like downtown chicago. Any suggestions on where to go.

Um, I can't tell you about the Cincinnati Nightlife, but just across the river in Newport is Great!! Last night we ended up hitting Hofbrauhaus for dinner and drinks, followed by a movie across the street at Newport on the Levy, and drinks in the bar downstairs!! We left at 1am. We had a great time and they have Gameworks to enjoy at Newport on the levy!!

If you go downtown, don't venture any further north than 7th Street. South of there, you'll find the Aronoff Center, the Contemporary Arts Center, Fountain Square, and restaurants around the square as well as along 4th Street. That area is also where you'll find the majority of downtown retail. But like CincinnatiGirl said, Newport-on-the-Levy is basically the "in" place around downtown Cincy right now. You could also venture up into Mt. Adams. It's close to downtown, and a rather hip place.
Have fun and be safe!

um, you guys are part of the "out" crowd not the "in" crowd (not to be confused with gay - which might bring you a few notches toward the "in" crowd - but not guaranteed)
newport on the levy - is basically "mall culture" entertainment
sure - i like to check out a movie
is it the "in" spot ??? not unless you've got a melba toast personality
ok - not that i'm really into these places - but downtown anywhere around the fountain square is jammin' lately (august 2007)
packed every weekend i've been
with out that dry mouth residue

Mt. Adams has sort of a "wrigleyville" feel to it -- lots of neighborhood bars and restaurants.. Though some of the restaurants are fairly upscale in cost. As far as downtown Chicago... do you mean "the magnificent mile" area? There's nothing that really directly compares to that here, though Fountain Square area is probably closest. But no ESPN Zone, Hard Rock, Cabo Wabo, Rain Forest Cafe, Rock and Roll McDonalds..
NewPort of the Levee is very "mall culture".. Think Schaumburg but outdoor and with a vague German cultural overtone. Its fun, but not particularly "urban" feeling.
That said Cinci (like Chicago) is comprised of MANY little individual neighborhoods, and many of them have their own little squares with bars/restaurants/clubs/etc..
Hyde Park/Oakley/Mt. Lookout/Mt. Adams is the trendy line across the East side of the city (maybe 10 minutes from city center). It is most comparable (as before mentioned) to Wrigleyville. A fun place to hang out and meet people.
good luck to you!

Hahaha there is nothing to do compared to Chicago here...Cinti really doesn't have a thriving nightlife...I am afraid to go Downtown in fear of being killed or mugged

Lydunn is a bit cynical but I do agree there really isn't "nightlife" in downtown Cinti...and Chicago it ain't. Pick A (as in one) bar/restaurant downtown & stay. Briolat21 is on point about seeking a neighborhood.
